About the role

Provide leadership to a team of operators to ensure production department deliverables are met. Drive continuous improvement in the value stream, manage and deliver production goals, and actively participate in Gemba. Partner with support departments to update and create standard work (Work Instructions) as needed. Train operators to follow detailed WIs, processes, and procedures to produce products correctly.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, assign, and direct work; appraise performance; reward and discipline employees; address complaints and resolve problems constructively.
  • Confer with other supervisors to maintain production schedules and commitments.
  • Partner with quality, engineering, and maintenance departments to resolve issues related to quality, processes, equipment, or materials in a timely manner.
  • Take corrective action on deviations and analyze key issues affecting the value stream; initiate action plans and highlight critical issues to operations leadership.
  • Partner with internal customers and suppliers to ensure on-time order delivery.
  • Oversee scheduling, production, and inspection required for the value stream.
  • Complete Daily Metric Tracker, scrap records, training records, and other required documentation.
  • Report production work orders to ensure accuracy of component inventory.
  • Estimate employee hour requirements and adjust work procedures to meet production schedules and goals.
  • Uphold 5S requirements and maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
  • Conduct daily pre-shift huddles to support communication.
  • Manage employee issues and problem resolution daily; foster teamwork and improve morale.
  • Complete annual performance reviews for operators.
  • Comply with TCF Quality System policies, guidelines, and regulatory requirements.
  • Adhere to TCF Core Values in actions, behavior, and decisions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED (required); Bachelor’s degree (preferred).
  • Familiarity with ISO9001 requirements.
  • 2–5 years of experience leading or supervising others, with proven ability to direct work and delegate effectively.
  • Ability to read and interpret policies, procedures, work instructions, and standards.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Meticulous record-keeping capability.
  • Strong prioritization and organizational skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of employee information, including performance, illness, investigations, and personal details.
  • Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and personnel with little to no supervision.
  • High level of initiative and flexibility in adapting to a dynamic work environment.
  • Proficiency with Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.

Physical Demands

  • Occasionally lift/move up to 50 pounds.
  • Continuously or as needed: stand, walk, use hands to finger, reach with hands and arms above shoulder height, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl in small spaces.
  • Continuous exposure to moving mechanical parts and extreme heat.
  • Occasional exposure to high places, fumes, airborne particles, and/or caustic chemicals.
  • Work environment is usually loud.

Training & Certifications

The following certifications and training, if required, will be provided by the company:

  • Forklift Certificate
  • Bridge Crane Training
  • Fall Protection Training
