Production Supervisor - Harvest Manufacturing

Responsibilities
- Oversee daily shift production, ensuring adherence to all safety protocols and supervising hourly staff responsible for manufacturing activities.
- Manage hourly employee performance, including coaching, counseling, discipline, timekeeping, and enforcement of policies and procedures.
- Maintain production efficiency through continuous improvement, monitoring staffing and resources, developing reporting systems, and fostering cooperation across departments.
- Participate in recruiting, interviewing, onboarding, training, and mentoring processes.
- Identify production performance gaps, suggest improvements, and implement corrective actions.
- Ensure a safe work environment by resolving safety issues, monitoring work practices, conducting safety audits, and leading plant safety initiatives.
- Maintain product quality by adhering to specifications, SQF protocols, and OSHA compliance standards.
- Validate equipment operation at the start of each shift, communicate issues, and initiate work orders for repairs.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and ensure smooth handoffs to oncoming leadership to foster a high-performance work environment.
Requirements
Education: A bachelor’s degree or a combination of college and equivalent work experience in a food manufacturing facility.
Experience: Four to five years of progressive experience working with industrial food manufacturing equipment and supervising multiple employees. Must be comfortable working in a Harvest (Pork Sausage) Manufacturing environment.
Skills
- Ability to lead and direct a diverse team.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Proficiency with computers, desktop software, and business systems.
- High school equivalency math skills.
- Knowledge of safety regulations, including OSHA and other applicable federal and state standards.
- Familiarity with food processing, HACCP, GMPs, and sanitation preferred.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements
- Manufacturing environment with exposure to cold, wet, or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, and loud noise levels.
- Requires prolonged walking, sitting, standing, and bending.
- Occasional lifting of up to 30 lbs.
- Vision abilities required for reading instructions and entering data on a computer.
