About the role
Manage and assist in the completion of the day-to-day activities that manufacture products by supervising production workers and organizing and monitoring workflow. The employee exercises decision making and some discretion regarding specific procedures and work methods to complete given assignments.
Responsibilities
- Communicate job expectations; plan, monitor, and appraise job results; coach, counsel, and discipline employees; initiate, coordinate, and enforce policies, and procedures.
- Maintain workflow by monitoring steps of the process; setting processing variables; observing control points and equipment; studying methods; implementing cost reductions; developing reporting procedures and systems; facilitating corrections to malfunctions within process control points.
- Complete production plan by scheduling and assigning personnel; accomplishing work results; establishing priorities; monitoring progress; revising schedules; resolving problems; reporting results of the processing flow on shift production summaries.
- Provide production updates and communication with production manager and the customer service team.
- Must be able to read and interpret drawings/specifications.
- Prepare a backlog sheet for customer service and management.
- Print orders and bill of lading for production.
- Maintain a safe and clean work environment by educating and directing personnel on the use of all control points, equipment, and resources, maintaining compliance with established policies and procedures.
- Maintain working relationships with the union by following the terms of the collective bargaining agreement.
Requirements
- High school/trade school diploma required with five (5) years related experience.
- Previous supervisory experience a plus.
Qualifications
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, analytical problem solving, and multi-task-oriented skills a must.
- Ability to read and comprehend blueprints, instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
- Ability to effectively present information to customers, clients, and other associates of the organization.
- Basic mathematic skills.
Skills
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to analyze data; investigate issues; identify solutions; recommend action.
- Ability to delegate and complete multiple projects to meet company/production initiatives/goals.
- Ability to solve problems, adapt accordingly to meet deadlines to ensure production needs are satisfied.
- Good organization skills.
