Production Supervisor - Cut Floor - 1st shift

About the role
The Cut Floor Production Supervisor oversees 1st-shift production operations, ensuring products meet company, customer, and government specifications. This role requires strong leadership to mentor team members, delegate workloads, and make quick, well-informed decisions to achieve operational success while maintaining a strong floor presence.
Responsibilities
- Lead team members in producing quality products according to company criteria.
- Implement and maintain safety standards as required by law and company policy.
- Direct job-related training and ensure company job rotation minimums are met.
- Use strong communication skills to coach, guide, and resolve employee issues, implementing corrective actions as needed.
- Foster a high-morale workplace with ethical standards, treating all team members with dignity and respect.
- Manage production schedules as determined by the superintendent.
- Ensure adherence to processing procedures for quality and safety.
- Maintain discipline and accountability to meet company and customer goals.
- Monitor and improve production processes to meet quality and quantity goals.
- Utilize problem-solving, teamwork, and process control tools to meet or exceed production schedules.
- Facilitate workflow management, workforce scheduling, and placement to meet facility and company goals.
- Conduct or lead process audits, implementing corrective and preventive actions to minimize deviations and non-conforming products.
- Maintain team member compliance with company policies, safety standards, and good housekeeping through fair accountability.
- Collaborate with other supervisors to ensure high operational efficiency.
- Assist with pre-operation activities as directed.
- Perform additional duties as required.
Requirements
- Minimum of a High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Minimum of 1 year of leadership experience in industrial manufacturing, preferably in fresh kill, cut meat processing, or packing.
- Knowledge of USDA and HACCP procedures is a plus.
- OSHA 10- or 30-hour certification preferred.
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work in extreme hot, cold, wet, humid, and odorous environments.
- Flexibility to work various shifts and extensive overtime, including weekends.
- Good computer literacy and ability to write clear, concise reports.
- Results-driven and employee-oriented.
- Commitment to safety policies and wearing required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Strong leadership, motivational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Willingness to attend training as needed.
Physical Demands
- Floor-based position requiring standing and walking for long periods.
- Occasional assistance in moving boxes up to 90 lbs.
- Must be able to lift, push, pull, or carry objects using abdominal and lower back muscles without fatigue.
- Requires good manual dexterity, multi-limb coordination, and quick movement of arms and legs.
- Must have excellent stamina and vision.
Work Environment
- Exposure to fumes, airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, and vibration.
- Loud noise levels requiring hearing protection.
- Regular work near moving mechanical parts in cold, hot, and outdoor conditions, including inclement weather, heat, humidity, and dust.
