About the role
The Production Supervisor at Darigold is responsible for leading and supervising production shifts, ensuring safety, reliability, and quality. They also manage labor and resources to meet production goals.
Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and supervision for the assigned production shift and associated personnel.
- Mobilize plant personnel to facilitate the achievement of plant objectives.
- Educate and motivate workers to achieve superior safety, reliability, sanitation, and quality standards.
- Ensure maximum utilization of plant resources in achieving plant objectives.
- Monitor and control PTO use and overtime utilization.
- Balance labor against production volume.
- Resolve attendance issues and ensure accurate timekeeping.
- Develop and deliver professional level Standard Operating Procedures and train on them to ensure adherence.
- Perform daily checks, document, reconcile, and report to ensure the highest quality of product is produced and tracked.
- Confer with supervisors of on-coming and off-going shifts to determine production changes, needs, and exposures.
- Communicate with and inform workers of production changes and production issues.
- Prepare and conduct team meetings as necessary for proper communications and development of teams.
- Participate in and lead teams to improve safety, quality, reliability, sanitation, and reduce waste.
- Isolate and remove impediments to scheduling, production, labor, and safety.
- Proactively identify problems before they occur and take the correct course of action.
- Investigate and troubleshoot equipment issues.
- Inspect all machinery in assigned work arena to ensure compliance with OSHA and HACCP standards.
- Work with the Engineering and Quality Assurance staff to create a cooperative environment on their assigned shift.
- Develop an expert knowledge of the production process and all associated equipment.
- Reinforce a sense of urgency during production runs and periods of machine downtime.
- Effectively communicate issues to management team.
Requirements
- Experience in the processing of fluid milk products is desirable.
- Ability to work in a team environment (as well as independently).
- Ability to work with groups of people with varying levels of education, expertise, and backgrounds.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Strong computer skills (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
- Able to monitor and inspect product and equipment.
- Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Processes.
- Ability to obtain and/or maintain certifications in Receiving, Antibiotic Testing, CHARM testing and any other regulatory agency requirements.
Qualifications
- Prioritize multiple assignments at the same time and balance to meet established deadlines.
- Work variable hours and weekends and extended hours as tasks require.
- Understand process functions to accomplish high level planning always covering 24-hour periods while maintaining adaptability to process variations and change.
