Brief Description
The production supervisor will supervise production employees in a manufacturing environment, plan and assign work, enforce policies and procedures, and recommend improvements in production methods, equipment, operating procedures, and working conditions. The supervisor has a hands-on leadership approach in the company and the company’s product-making activities.
Major Tasks, Responsibilities, And Key Accountabilities
- Balances quality, productivity, cost, safety, and morale to achieve results in all areas
- Works to continuously improve in all areas
- Provides regular progress reports to the manager
- Ensures effective employee relations
- Provides employee coaching and development
- Makes employment decisions
- Solves employee issues through problem resolution
- Performs accident investigations
- Tracks absenteeism and timekeeping
- Achieve manufacturing staff results by planning, monitoring, communicating job expectations, and appraising job results; counseling, disciplining, and coaching employees; coordinating, initiating, and enforcing systems, procedures, and policies
- Maintain staff by recruiting, orienting, selecting, and training employees; and developing personal growth opportunities for them
- Maintain workflow by setting process variables, monitoring steps of the process; observing equipment and control points; monitoring resources and personnel; developing reporting systems and procedures, studying methods; facilitating corrections to malfunctions, implementing cost reductions; initiating and developing a spirit of cooperation between and within departments
- Ensure the operation of equipment by evaluating new equipment and calling for repairs of old equipment
- Provide manufacturing information by sorting, initiating, compiling, and analyzing production performance data and records
- Direct employees on the use of equipment, all control points, and resource
- Handle additional duties as assigned by Production Manager
Additional Responsibilities
- Support and guidance to direct reports
- Performs monthly training with the team
- Leads all safety initiatives in the area
Requirements
- Preferred Qualifications: Minimum three years of leadership experience is highly preferred; Minimum three years in manufacturing environments is highly preferred; Leadership – the ability to command and maintain the attention of those you are overseeing; Effective communication – the ability to convincingly convey instructions, directions, and details to others; Experience – knowledge of OSHA and other governmental regulations; incident and accident prevention; Attention to detail – the ability to manage all duties, rules, documentation, and other components of the job with focus and accuracy; Confidentiality – the ability to protect data, information, and employee privacy; Compassion – the ability to be concerned for another person’s well-being; Organization – an ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously; Collaborative – an ability to work with diverse personalities for a tangible and beneficial outcome; Bilingual strongly preferred (Spanish)
- Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent; Ability to read, write and comprehend the English language; Supervisory experience
Working Conditions
- Multiple Shifts Available
- This role operates in a wet and cold/refrigerated environment (around 35 degrees F) located within a manufacturing, warehousing, and production type facility.
- Must be able to withstand cold temperatures for extended periods of time.
- This is largely a static role with standing; however, the ability to perform repetitive bending and standing up is also required.
- This would require the ability to lift 10-35 lbs. repetitively and up to 45 lbs. occasionally.
- Depending on the area, must also be able to push/pull up to 250 lbs. on rollers occasionally.
- Hourly Employees: Universal Pure facilities may process, pack, and store products containing allergenic food ingredients as referenced by FDA, team members who may come in direct contact, must be able to work with these ingredients.
- Salaried/Remote Employees: Universal Pure facilities may process, pack and or store products containing allergenic food ingredients as referenced by FDA, occasional exposure may occur, inform your direct manager of any food allergies.
