About the role
The Production Supervisor at Thorlabs is responsible for leading, guiding, and supervising assigned areas to ensure quality products are produced safely and efficiently. This role involves supervising all employees, ensuring they are trained and meet production goals, and maintaining a positive work environment.
Responsibilities
- Comply with safety regulations including chemical handling, personal protective equipment, and equipment utilization.
- Supervise all personnel within assigned group, ensuring they are trained and have the proper training records.
- Maintain workflow through the production floor and develop a successful team.
- Interview new hires to fill openings and keep capacity matched to demand.
- Ensure compliance to Department and Company policies and implement corrective steps when needed.
- Mediate disagreements between employees and monitor attendance.
- Create performance assessments and make promotion and termination recommendations.
- Advise on design and lead times for Custom and OEM products to ensure on-time deliveries.
- Manage system to ensure consumables and assembly supplies are accounted for and always available.
- Update Instructions as needed, ensure accuracy, and resolve quality issues.
- Partner with Facility Engineering for Preventative Maintenance and minimize downtime.
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a similar and progressive position with supervisory/leadership experience preferred.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and decision-making skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, basic math skills, and proficiency in using a computer.
- Ability to troubleshoot and solve problems, general industrial safety knowledge, and ability to shift focus between tasks.
Qualifications
- Physical activities: Active, standing or sitting for long durations, lifting or moving objects up to 20 pounds, grasping, manipulating, or assembling small parts.
- Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in a similar and progressive position with supervisory/leadership experience preferred.
- Education: High School diploma or equivalent.

$65,700.00 - $ 82,000 D.O.E.
