Production Supervisor

About the role

Sun Chemical, a leading producer of various industrial solutions, is seeking a Production Supervisor to lead and manage operations in their Michigan facility.

Responsibilities

• Optimize production results through training and instruction to operators in safe chemical handling procedures, troubleshooting, and process improvements.
• Maintain accurate production records and reports as per department managers' guidelines.
• Ensure operator compliance with plant rules and regulations, including safety and housekeeping standards.
• Handle employee discipline and grievances at the supervisor's level, ensuring compliance with union contracts.
• Affirm equal opportunities for personnel development and monitor quality control across all equipment in the area of responsibility.
• Monitor and control quality, meet production requirements, and maintain close oversight of overtime hours.
• Verify and approve timecards of subordinates and assist in departmental budget preparation and expense control.
• Conduct monthly safety meetings, issue minutes, perform safety and housekeeping tours, and report accidents and incidents promptly.
• Act as incident command for the Emergency Response Team during shifts.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience supervising hourly production areas and personnel in a manufacturing environment.
• Excellent communication skills, including the ability to express thoughts and ideas clearly and professionally.
• Strong analytical, lean manufacturing, and continuous improvement skills.
• Strong organizational and time management abilities.
• Ability to multitask and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing setting.
• Strong influence, collaboration, and situational leadership skills.
• Experience working on the Emergency Response Team and acting as incident command.
• Flexibility to work on other shifts as needed.

Preferred Education and Experience

• Associate degree or equivalent in engineering or mechanical discipline.
• Union experience.
• Supervisory experience within a Chemical or Batch environment.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

Day or Night Shift, 12 hours/shift.
