Richardson Oilseed Products U.S., a division of Richardson International, operates a state-of-the-art oil packaging facility in Memphis, TN where it refines and packages Wesson Oil, one of the United States’ most recognized brands of canola and vegetable cooking oils.

About the role

Reporting to the Manager, Production, this position supervises production operations according to established priorities and schedules. Manages production staff to attain production and quality goals, identifies problems or bottlenecks in production processes, and resolves issues. Ensures production resources including materials, equipment, and human resources are available as needed to maintain production schedules. Oversees multiple lines and provides direction to Hourly Coordinators and employees. Coordinates with other management for continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor production to ensure that quality, productivity, and cost standards are maintained.
  • Provide employee training to ensure that employees are performing job responsibilities effectively.
  • Oversee department-specific sanitation operations as necessary to promote and maintain a clean and food-safe environment.
  • Maintain and enforce GMP standards.
  • Evaluate subordinate performance, communicate with employees, and provide information for work performance improvement.
  • Participate in the support of plant and company safety programs, promoting and maintaining a high level of awareness and adherence to defined employee safety requirements such as lock-out/tag-out, personal protective equipment, confined space entry, etc.
  • Execute the daily work schedule and post overtime hours.
  • Provide leadership and direction for the plant Focused Improvement pillar.
  • Attend production meetings.
  • Respond to employee grievances.
  • Ensure operation of manufacturing lines will meet performance standards for each product.
  • Ensure all daily manufacturing documents are completed and accurate.
  • Function with limited direct supervision.

Requirements

  • A four-year degree in Business, Food Science, Agricultural Sciences, or Engineering preferred (other degrees will be considered).
  • One year of supervisory experience in a food-processing, food packaging, or chemical industry required.
  • Good mechanical aptitude to operate and troubleshoot manufacturing equipment.
  • Ability to work weekends and/or shift work (flexible to switch between 1st, 2nd, or 3rd shift according to production schedule).
  • A self-motivated individual who is able to motivate, mentor, and train others.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, problem-solving, organizational, and follow-through skills.
  • Strong PC skills with MS Office and ERP programs.
  • Ability to multi-task and set priorities within the department.

Schedule

Flexible to switch between 1st, 2nd, or 3rd shift according to production schedule, including weekends.
