Production Supervisor
Job Details
The Production Supervisor is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing daily manufacturing operations on 1st shift. This individual will lead and develop a production team to ensure safety, quality, efficiency, and production targets are consistently met or exceeded. The role requires a hands-on leader who can manage people, equipment, and processes in a fast-paced, process-driven manufacturing environment. This position partners closely with cross-functional teams including Maintenance, Supply Chain, Quality, Human Resources, and Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) to ensure smooth production flow and operational excellence.
Core responsibilities
- Supervise production staff
- Manage shift schedules and staffing levels
- Monitor KPIs
- Enforce standard operating procedures (SOPs)
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives on the floor
Required Skills & Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required (associate degree or technical certification preferred)
- Minimum 1+ year of experience in a lead, supervisory, or production leadership role
- Experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or process-driven environment
- Strong understanding of safety standards (PPE, EHS compliance)
- Ability to lead, coach, and hold teams accountable in a production setting
- Basic proficiency in math (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages)
- Strong communication skills (verbal and written English)
- Ability to interpret SOPs, instructions, and production documentation
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint) and/or ERP/MRP systems
- Ability to work onsite and support a 1st shift schedule
Preferred Skills & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Manufacturing, or related field
- Experience in high-volume, fast-paced manufacturing environments
- Prior exposure to KPI tracking, production reporting, and operational metrics
- Experience with MRP/ERP systems in a manufacturing setting
- Background in continuous improvement or lean manufacturing practices
- Strong track record of team development and performance coaching
- Experience coordinating across departments (maintenance, supply chain, quality, HR)
- Familiarity with equipment-heavy or system-controlled production environments
