About the role
Direct and coordinate daily operations for a small seed tape production operation, managing a staff of four to eight people to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, accurately, and in accordance with established schedules and quality standards.
Responsibilities
- Plan, coordinate, and oversee daily production activities to ensure production schedules, quality standards, safety requirements, and productivity goals are consistently met.
- Develop, maintain, and communicate production schedules based on customer demand, material availability, staffing levels, and equipment capacity.
- Oversee the receiving of incoming inventory and verify quantities, product information, lot numbers, and required documentation for accuracy and completeness.
- Maintain accurate lot tracking records to support traceability, inventory control, quality assurance, and applicable regulatory customer or certification requirements.
- Train machine operators on proper equipment setup.
- Monitor machine operator performance and provide coaching, guidance, and follow-up training to support consistent and efficient operations.
- Coordinate with purchasing, warehouse, quality, and maintenance personnel to resolve material shortages, equipment concerns, and production delays.
- Identify and recommend opportunities to improve workflow, reduce downtime, increase efficiency, and minimize waste.
- Implement organic production practices where required to support compliant processes and applicable customer or certification requirements.
- Maintain documentation and records required to support continued organic certification, including production, inventory, lot tracking, and process records.
Requirements
- Previous experience in production management, manufacturing supervision, warehouse operations, or a related leadership role preferred.
- Knowledge of production scheduling, inventory receiving, lot tracking, and manufacturing or production processes.
- Ability to train, lead, and motivate machine operators and production employees.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively as part of a team.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Basic computer skills required; experience with inventory, production, or scheduling software.
Physical Requirements
- Work is performed in a production and/or warehouse environment and may require standing, walking, lifting, and working near production equipment.
- Follow all company safety policies, quality procedures, and operational standards at all times.
- Overtime or adjusted work hours may be required based on production schedules and business needs.
