Production Supervisor

About the role

The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, scheduling, and executing the production flow in a fast-paced manufacturing plant. They will directly supervise 30-40 employees, including hiring, training, and annual evaluations.

Responsibilities

  • Create and lead a continuous improvement culture focused on eliminating defects through robust root cause and corrective action activities.
  • Lead innovations to current processes and strive for world-class, industry-leading manufacturing and processes.
  • Manage the objectives and priorities for the manufacturing team. Properly deploy resources to support production areas.
  • Work closely with Engineering, Quality, and Maintenance to prevent problems with products and tooling/fixtures.
  • Use effective management and communication skills to create a cohesive team that is able to meet daily objectives.
  • Maintain quality and production performance and adjust plans to meet forecast.
  • Report metrics on Scorecards and provide daily/weekly reports as required.
  • Plan and manage factory resources and report daily/weekly KPI’s as required.
  • Ensure compliance of Boyd policies detailed in our handbook fairly with all employees.
  • Plan and manage factory equipment and assets to meet production schedules.
  • Manage EH&S practices to ensure a safe work environment, and comply with OSHA regulations.
  • Qualify direct reports and evaluate the effectiveness of training, including updating qualification matrices.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Management.

Requirements

  • BS in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering or Engineering Technology with 10 years' experience preferred.
  • Supervisory experience, 5-10 years preferred.
  • Ability to respond to and prioritize manufacturing operation issues as they arise.
  • Ability to effectively meet and communicate with employees, the public, and vendors.
  • Daily contact requires courtesy, discretion, and sound judgment.
  • Advanced PC skills using Microsoft Office software, and strong presentation skills.
  • Good written communication skills and effective organizational skills.

Competencies

  • Effective Communications with all levels of employees.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes in HVAC, assembly, wiring, and testing.
  • Knowledge of Manufacturing Quality and Product and Process Development.
  • Knowledge of warehousing and efficient material delivery processes.
  • Knowledge of root cause and corrective action methodologies.
  • Intermediate knowledge with project management skills.
  • Intermediate knowledge (advanced knowledge preferred) of lean methodologies including but not limited to TPM, 5S, and Visual factory concepts.
  • Intermediate knowledge of building mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Advanced knowledge of EH&S and OSHA requirements.
  • Management and leadership experience.
