About the role
The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, scheduling, and executing the production flow in a fast-paced manufacturing plant. They will directly supervise 30-40 employees, including hiring, training, and annual evaluations.
Responsibilities
- Create and lead a continuous improvement culture focused on eliminating defects through robust root cause and corrective action activities.
- Lead innovations to current processes and strive for world-class, industry-leading manufacturing and processes.
- Manage the objectives and priorities for the manufacturing team. Properly deploy resources to support production areas.
- Work closely with Engineering, Quality, and Maintenance to prevent problems with products and tooling/fixtures.
- Use effective management and communication skills to create a cohesive team that is able to meet daily objectives.
- Maintain quality and production performance and adjust plans to meet forecast.
- Report metrics on Scorecards and provide daily/weekly reports as required.
- Plan and manage factory resources and report daily/weekly KPI’s as required.
- Ensure compliance of Boyd policies detailed in our handbook fairly with all employees.
- Plan and manage factory equipment and assets to meet production schedules.
- Manage EH&S practices to ensure a safe work environment, and comply with OSHA regulations.
- Qualify direct reports and evaluate the effectiveness of training, including updating qualification matrices.
- Perform other duties as assigned by Management.
Requirements
- BS in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering or Engineering Technology with 10 years' experience preferred.
- Supervisory experience, 5-10 years preferred.
- Ability to respond to and prioritize manufacturing operation issues as they arise.
- Ability to effectively meet and communicate with employees, the public, and vendors.
- Daily contact requires courtesy, discretion, and sound judgment.
- Advanced PC skills using Microsoft Office software, and strong presentation skills.
- Good written communication skills and effective organizational skills.
Competencies
- Effective Communications with all levels of employees.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes in HVAC, assembly, wiring, and testing.
- Knowledge of Manufacturing Quality and Product and Process Development.
- Knowledge of warehousing and efficient material delivery processes.
- Knowledge of root cause and corrective action methodologies.
- Intermediate knowledge with project management skills.
- Intermediate knowledge (advanced knowledge preferred) of lean methodologies including but not limited to TPM, 5S, and Visual factory concepts.
- Intermediate knowledge of building mechanical and electrical systems.
- Advanced knowledge of EH&S and OSHA requirements.
- Management and leadership experience.
