About the role
The Production Supervisor is responsible for daily staffing and management of the production and packaging rooms, ensuring proper operation of equipment to produce food safely, efficiently, and to high quality standards. The role involves overseeing employee training, translating the weekly production schedule, ensuring product labeling, managing inventory, enforcing food safety and quality procedures, and addressing operational issues.
Responsibilities
- Create daily staffing plan and conduct, oversee, and audit employee training.
- Implement and translate daily production schedule, ensuring compliance with formulas and batch requirements.
- Ensure finished products are properly labeled according to customer specifications.
- Manage availability and staging of raw materials for efficient production.
- Translate company food quality and safety procedures onto production floors, maintaining all necessary records and documentation.
- Audit and ensure compliance with WDATCP, FDA, USDA, BRC, and customer audit requirements.
- Participate in risk management program, assisting with incident reporting, pre-operation audits, and reviewing job safety analysis (JSA).
- Solve production-related issues and document breakdowns using Redzone.
- Ensure equipment readiness for sanitation procedures.
- Generate and maintain production area documentation.
- Makes employment decisions and recommendations, including hiring, improvement plans, transfers, promotions, corrective actions, terminations, and pay adjustments.
- Manage employee performance and provide coaching and mentoring, administering performance reviews and recommending training and skill development activities.
- Coordinate and direct team members to meet area goals, auditing regularly to ensure standard operating procedures are followed.
- Audit and maintain employee time-keeping and absentee records.
- Promote a positive work environment by ensuring accountability for policy violations.
- Communicate and collaborate with team members, fostering a supportive and productive workplace.
- Attend and participate in company training and management meetings.
Requirements
- Associate Degree in Supervisory Management, Manufacturing, or related field, or equivalent work experience required.
- At least 3 years of supervisory experience in a production workforce, preferably in the food industry and specifically in cheese production.
- Excellent verbal, analytical, and organizational skills.
- Proven ability to lead and motivate teams, handle stressful situations, and manage resources effectively.
- Proficient in computer applications, including Word and Excel.
- Advanced knowledge of HACCP/Good Manufacturing Practices.
- Experience with inventory control and food allergen/nutrition labeling laws.

- Requires ability to operate motor vehicles for routine travel across manufacturing locations.
