About the role

The 2nd Shift Production Supervisor will oversee the post-harvest and packaging function for both non-flower and flower products in the grow facility. The 2nd shift runs from 3pm - 11:30pm Monday - Friday.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises employees and maintains safety, quality, efficiency, throughput, and on-time performance to schedule.
  • Works with the site management team to execute daily production plan, site initiatives, and company initiatives.
  • Continually improves all aspects of the assigned area. Position will float between all departments.
  • Main point of contact for all staff and vendors during 2nd shift operating hours.
  • Assist in the planning and production schedules, ensuring targets are met within given time frames.
  • Monitoring production processes, ensuring efficiencies and quality standards are met.
  • Identify or resolve issues or bottlenecks that may affect production output.
  • Manage inventory and supplies, including monitoring supply levels and placing orders through procurement.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and OSHA regulations.
  • Maintain accurate production records, prepare reports on production, efficiency, and quality.
  • Drive and lead continuous improvement activities on key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Promote development of current and future team leaders in preparation for higher levels of leadership.
  • Maintain flexibility to work any shift.
  • Communicate to management of any facility emergencies or equipment failures.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Identify and mentor high-potential team members to prepare them for the next steps, including one-on-one time for learning through experience, exposure, and education.
  • Coach all team members to improve and understand basic improvement mindset, job duties, and safety.
  • Delegate as needed to team leaders to help grow them and balance supervisor workload.
  • Resolve conflicts between people, shifts, departments, and sites.
  • Motivate the team to always hit and exceed goals, pointing out and correcting concerns or issues.
  • Appraise performance of employee owners within the assigned area.
  • Give immediate feedback on performance concerns and frequent feedback on progress.
  • Perform annual performance evaluations covering previous year’s performance, areas needing improvement, progress, and personal development items.

Requirements

  • Two-year degree and a minimum of two years of experience in a leadership role or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations and use a calculator.
  • Ability to stand for long periods and lift 75 pounds.
  • Ability to twist, bend, and reach to perform job duties.
  • Detail-oriented.
  • Ability to learn internal inventory control systems.

Environmental Factors

This position requires working in an environment with a high amount of plant matter and pollen. Areas of the facility reach high/low temperatures with high humidity levels. Employees may have exposure to conditions such as dust, plant matter, and particles that affect the respiratory system, eyes, or skin, depending on department job assignments. Employees are required to wear protective gear and have the option to wear eye and ear protection. Certain areas of the facility use harsh chemicals for cleaning, such as bleach, and can involve repetitive movements.

Physical Requirements

  • Able to push, pull, lift, or move a minimum of 50 lbs.
  • Capable of sitting, standing, kneeling, bending, squatting, and/or walking for extended periods.
  • Capable of using hands and fingers to touch, handle, feel, and pick.
  • Ability to work with hazardous chemicals (butane, propane, etc.) following strict safety guidelines.
  • Utilize chemicals (such as bleach) to clean and maintain facility/equipment.
  • Must wear PPE (clothing protection), close-toed non-slip shoes, and optional ear/eye protection.
