About the Role

This position leads and develops a team of production employees to consistently deliver high-quality meat products in a safe, sanitary, and efficient environment. The role ensures daily production goals are met by managing people, equipment, and processes while maintaining full compliance with company policies, regulatory requirements, and food safety standards.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise a team of 21-25 employees, including hiring and performance management.
  • Daily Operations & Resource Planning:
    • Plan and allocate daily resources—labor, equipment, materials, and systems—to meet production targets safely and cost-effectively.
    • Document daily production activities, analyze performance against goals, and communicate variances during shift meetings.
    • Facilitate smooth production flow and maintain effective shift-to-shift handoffs.
  • Maintenance & Equipment Efficiency:
    • Review daily maintenance results and partner with Operations and Maintenance teams to identify issues and improvements.
    • Prioritize and request maintenance work orders; follow up to ensure timely completion for maximum equipment uptime.
  • Continuous Improvement & Problem Solving:
    • Apply root-cause analysis tools to resolve production issues and prevent recurrence.
    • Identify and recommend process improvements to support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Quality, Food Safety & Compliance:
    • Ensure strict compliance with quality programs, HACCP, GMPs, and all food safety requirements.
    • Conduct sanitation audits, food safety checks, and product quality inspections.
    • Engage in the identification, prevention, and correction of quality-related issues.
  • Safety & Regulatory Compliance:
    • Maintain a safe working environment by adhering to safety policies, procedures, and regulations.
    • Promote a culture of safety by coaching employees and reinforcing safe work practices.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of experience in a related field is preferred.
  • Experience in a food manufacturing environment, particularly USDA-governed, is strongly preferred.
  • Working knowledge of good manufacturing practices (GMPs), hazard analysis and critical control points (HACCP), lean manufacturing, and other food safety, quality, and manufacturing principles.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally with employees at all levels.
  • Strong leadership skills, including mentoring, coaching, and identifying development needs for direct reports.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment using effective organizational skills and judgment.
  • Excellent proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Qualifications

Preferred education: BA/BS or equivalent in Business Management, Production Operations Management, Agricultural Science, Food Science, or equivalent work experience.

Pay

The salary range for this role is $67,568–$101,352, with a midpoint of $84,460. Offers are typically made between the minimum and midpoint of the range, based on skills, experience, and internal equity.

Work Environment

  • Manufacturing plant environment with noise, extreme temperatures, and significant movement of powered equipment, people, and conveyors.
  • Typical office and plant environment conditions.
  • Physical requirements may include:
    • Lifting up to 50 pounds.
    • Frequent/infrequent bending, squatting, pushing, pulling, stretching, and reaching.
    • Standing/walking on concrete flooring for more than 4 hours.
  • No domestic travel required.
