Production Supervisor - 2nd Shift (2 pm to 10:30 pm)

Reporting to the Production Manager / Site Operations Leader, this role supervises day-to-day manufacturing operations and employee performance for a designated value stream. The position plans and assigns work, implements policies, and recommends improvements in production methods, equipment, operating procedures, and working conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Balance quality, productivity, cost, safety, and morale to achieve positive results in all areas.
  • Meet and improve schedule dates, reduce process times, reduce inventory levels, and increase resource utilization while managing department priorities.
  • Control manpower and materials needed to complete jobs accurately and on time.
  • Guide and monitor the team toward its goals, ensuring employee productivity, resolving problems, and adjusting work roles and distribution as needed.
  • Initiate, implement, and lead continuous improvement activities, including researching new processes, procedures, and equipment to improve throughput, quality, and profitability.
  • Continuously evaluate and improve manufacturing processes using lean concepts and Six Sigma, partnering with Operational Excellence to establish value stream priorities and drive a lean culture.
  • Supervise manufacturing employees, track absenteeism, and maintain and approve timekeeping records.
  • Ensure effective employee relations through mentoring, development, coaching, and problem resolution.
  • Make employment decisions, arrange training to develop employees’ skills, and recommend disciplinary actions.
  • Evaluate and update team members’ performance against job requirements and goals.
  • Ensure employee safety by providing training, leading accident investigations, safety observations, and hazard mapping.
  • Work with the Warehouse Manager to maintain proper inventory levels for optimum productivity.
  • Coordinate projects with other supervisors and departments.
  • Monitor production schedules and results, informing management of delays or related issues.
  • Manage departmental performance measures, including visual controls, and provide regular progress reports.
  • Support new product development (NPD) introductions, troubleshooting processes, updating work instructions, and training team members.
  • Collaborate with Supply Chain, Planning, and QA to resolve parts, inventory, and quality issues.

Requirements

  • 5-7 years of progressive experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience directing an hourly or manufacturing workforce.
  • High School diploma or GED; Bachelor’s Degree is a plus.
  • Intermediate computer skills, including experience with MS Office suite and business planning/inventory systems.
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Extensive knowledge and leadership in Lean, Six Sigma, 5P, or other continuous improvement models; participation in related projects.

Physical Demands

  • General office environment with PC use.
  • Light lifting (occasional 25 lbs or less).
  • Stooping and standing.

Pay

Typical pay is $71,200 – $92,600 annually. Pay is based on candidate skills, experience, and qualifications. This position is eligible for participation in the Quarterly Incentive Pay Program.
