Position Summary

The Production Supervisor is responsible for supervising production and sanitation activities through the various shift leads. They train, direct, and motivate Team Members to achieve department goals and stand on yields, quality, productivity, and safety. This role works closely with department supervisors, other department leads, and processing team members to ensure accuracy and quality in the processing department.

Essential Functions

  • Supervise all production and sanitation activities through various shift leadspersons.
  • Train, direct, and motivate Team Members to achieve department goals and stand on yield, quality, productivity, and safety.
  • Directly responsible for the development and training of Team Members, working within the guidelines of the union contract and company policies.
  • Maintain standards and indexes needed to control area of responsibility and provide timely feedback to supervisor on exceptions.
  • Maintain preventive maintenance on equipment in area of control and interface with immediate Supervisor on suggested improvements.
  • Give safety orientations and hold safety/general meetings as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Must have a B.S. or B.A. degree in Business Management or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in the food processing industry.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate verbally and in writing, and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Balanced technical/mechanical/human resource knowledge.
  • Ability to evaluate Team Members fairly and objectively.
  • Ability to interface on a daily basis with all support groups or departments.
  • Able to work weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
  • Pass a criminal background check, drug screen, and E-verify.
  • Read and write English.
  • Basic math skills.
  • Reliable transportation.
  • Ability to communicate with all levels including management.
  • Minimal supervision required.
  • Basic knowledge of sanitation and clean up preferred.
  • Good leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Able to work safely and set an example of safe working habits for coworkers.
  • Able to operate forklift and/or pallet jack.
  • Wear company-provided Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
