Vapor-Phase Axial Deposition (VAD)

  • VAD Making – LOWER LEVEL
  • VAD Making – UPPER LEVEL
  • VAD Processing – (R) FURNACE
  • VAD Processing – ELONGATION
  • RIT Tube/Rod Wash
  • FIBER DRAW
  • Draw machines are designed to draw large cylinders of glass (94mm-150mm diameter that weigh approx. 90lbs-200lbs) into optical fiber (125-micron diameter).
  • During this process, a thin layer of coating material is applied to the glass fiber via a die and cured by passing it through a UV light source.
  • The fiber is wound onto a large metal cylindrical spool as it is being drawn.

Product Specialist – Level 2

  • Having the functional capacity to perform efficiently in each job assignment in the VAD department is required.
  • The job assignments for the VAD Department include but aren’t limited to the following:
  • VAD Making – LOWER LEVEL
  • VAD Making – UPPER LEVEL
  • VAD Processing – (R) FURNACE
  • VAD Processing – ELONGATION

Post Draw Department

  • Having the functional capacity to perform efficiently and safely in each job assignment in the Post Draw department is required.
  • The job assignments for the Post Draw Department include but aren’t limited to the following:
  • Rewind/UV
  • Measurements
  • Fiber Sales
  • Ink Room

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform a wide variety of bench and assembly work.
  • Operate machines requiring limited interrelated adjustments with detailed procedures in manufacturing layouts, engineering specifications, or similar operating procedures.
  • Assist in the loading, unloading, string-up, set-up, and operation of complex machines.
  • Test and inspect in-process and completed products.
  • Perform material handling duties requiring the operation of all types of material handling equipment.
  • Receive, store, stage and ship all types of materials and products.
  • Communicate and instruct other Level 2 employees.
  • Perform work assignment and coordinating duties for a group of Level 2 employees.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES

  • Reading, Writing English language.
  • Machine control interface (touchscreens).
  • Basic computer use: mouse, icon, hotkeys and restarting clients.
  • Basic math.
  • Time management.
  • Computer tablet interface.
  • Computer app use.
  • Basic software use and internet browsing.
