About the role
The Production Control Specialist II compiles and records production data for reports on volume of production, consumption of material, quality control, and other aspects of production. This position may require occasional overtime and may include second or third shift support for 24/7 onsite or on-call support based on customer needs and contract requirements.
Responsibilities
- Compile and record production data from customer orders, work tickets, product specifications, and individual worker production sheets following prescribed recording procedures.
- Calculate types and quantities of items produced, materials used, amount of scrap, frequency of defects, and worker and department production rates for inventory records.
- Prepare requisitions for procurement of materials.
- Write production reports based on data compiled, tabulated, and computed, following prescribed formats.
- Maintain files of documents used and prepared.
- Work with designers, engineers, and manufacturing personnel to determine capability of producing deliverable end items.
Requirements
- Moderate understanding of machine tool operations and the types of machines used in the fabrication of parts.
- Capabilities in the Microsoft Office Suite of applications (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
- Ability to interpret written instructions, interface with potential vendors, and resolve issues.
- Must be able to bend, stoop, or lift occasionally with or without reasonable accommodation.
- All positions supporting the METTS III contract are contingent upon successful completion of NASA medical screenings at the beginning of employment and annually thereafter.
- Subject to a pre-employment background check; must meet eligibility for a Public Trust background investigation for government-issued credentials and IT access.
- Must provide two (2) forms of Federal I9 documents and a REAL ID-compliant identification to gain access to Redstone Arsenal (RSA) and Marshall Space Flight Center (MSFC).
- Name must match on both forms of ID, be original (no copies/digital), and be unexpired.
Qualifications
- Three (3) years of experience in a related field is desired.
- Strong communication skills.
Work Environment
- Machine Shop, Laboratory, test environments, test stands, possible confined spaces.
- Loud/noisy space.
