Description

The Production Space and Cage Manager supports Film & Media Studies courses involving digital cinema, film, sound, and other time-based media. The manager oversees the department’s equipment cage and production spaces; maintains production equipment and facilities; hires, trains, schedules, and supervises student employees; and provides hands-on technical support to faculty and students.

Required Qualifications

  • Education and Years Exp:

    • Bachelor’s degree in film, media production, television, broadcast, digital media, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in film/media production, studio operations, equipment management, or academic media services.
  • Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

    • Strong working knowledge of digital cinema cameras, lenses, lighting, grip, field sound, and studio-production equipment.
    • Ability to teach technical workshops and provide hands-on support to students and faculty.
    • Strong organizational, communication, customer-service, and project-management skills.
    • Ability to develop clear procedures, documentation, and production best practices.
    • Ability to establish clear expectations, assign work, provide ongoing feedback, and manage student staffing in support of equipment-cage operations, production spaces, and departmental activities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Education and Experience:

    • MFA or other advanced degree in film, media production, or a related field.
    • Experience working in higher education and supporting curricular production.
    • Experience with 16mm film cameras and workflows, studio lighting and DMX control, set construction and soundstage operations, and professional digital cinema workflows.
    • Experience producing or supporting larger collaborative film productions.
    • Familiarity with Adobe Premiere Pro, Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects, InDesign, Audition, and other current production and post-production tools.
