Position Summary
The Production Quality Inspector at OrangeEV ensures the quality and compliance of high-voltage batteries, electric powertrains, and vehicle assemblies. This role requires 3+ years of experience, a strong grasp of technical specifications, and the ability to work independently to identify, document, and support the resolution of defects.
Position Responsibilities
- Perform in-line and final inspections of electrical assemblies, including wiring harnesses, connectors, relays, sensors, and power distribution modules.
- Interpret and apply electrical schematics and mechanical drawings to validate build accuracy.
- Maintain traceability of serialized parts and assemblies, ensuring accurate documentation and data entry.
- Document non-conformances and support root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Collaborate with Production, Process Engineering, and Quality teams to resolve quality issues in real time.
- Support continuous improvement (CI) initiatives and contribute to quality-related training and awareness efforts.
Position Qualifications
- Level II: 3–4 years of QA / QC inspection experience, preferably in automotive or electrical manufacturing, with growth potential to Level III within 18 months.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.
- Familiarity with inspection SOPs, control plans, and checklists.
- Basic to intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office tools.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Background in sheet metal fabrication, coating, and/or electrical/electronic component assembly preferred.
- Awareness of CSA marks, ISO 9001, or IATF 16949 standards preferred.
Essential Skills And Competencies
- EV-Specific Knowledge: Understanding of battery technology, electric motors, high-voltage systems, and electric charging components.
- Inspection Proficiencies: Conducting in-line and end-of-line inspections, functional tests, and 100% inspection, or applying sampling plans.
- Documentation and QMS: Strong competence in documenting nonconformities and using Quality Management Systems (QMS) or Microsoft Office to log data.
- Problem-Solving: Strong analytical skills for root cause analysis to troubleshoot defects and prevent recurrence.
- Independent Judgment: Ability to work autonomously within defined guidelines, making crucial pass/fail decisions.
