Essential Responsibilities
- Perform independent in-process and first-piece inspections within production and pin cell environments
- Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and GD&T to verify part conformity
- Inspect critical characteristics and high-risk features per inspection plans
- Use precision measuring equipment, (Ex: Calipers, micrometers, height gages, Pin, plug, and thread gages, Ect.)
- Record inspection results accurately per quality procedures
- ID, document, and escalate nonconforming conditions in real time
- Accurately complete inspection records and quality documentation
- Provide real-time feedback to production to prevent escapes and rework
- Verify inspection tool calibration status prior to use
- Support audits and customer visits as needed
- Assist with training and mentoring entry-level inspectors
Role Authority & Limitations
- Authorized to perform independent in-process inspection
- May support FAIs and inspection packages under Quality guidance
- Does not independently disposition nonconforming material
Position Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in manufacturing or aerospace inspection (preferred)
- Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T (preferred)
- Proficiency with common precision measuring tools
- Experience performing in-process and first-piece inspections
- Working knowledge of quality systems and inspection documentation
- Strong attention to detail and communication skills
Position Qualifications
- This position offers structured on-the-job training in:
- Engineering drawing interpretation
- Basic GD&T fundamentals
- Aerospace inspection practices
- First Article Inspection (FAI) exposure
- Use of inspection documentation systems (as applicable)
- Aerospace industry experience
- Exposure to First Article Inspection (FAI) processes
- Experience supporting audits or customer inspections
- Familiarity with digital inspection systems (e.g., Net-Inspect or similar)
- Comfortable operating independently on the production floor
- Effective communicator with production and quality teams
- Problem-solver with a team-oriented mindset
- Coachable and open to feedback
- Production floor / pin cell inspection areas
- Standing, walking, and occasional lifting required
- Fast-paced manufacturing environment
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Basic mechanical aptitude or manufacturing experience
- Ability to read basic blueprints (training provided)
- Strong attention to detail
- Willingness to learn and follow procedures
