Inspector

Essential Functions

• Perform assignments in assisting the Project Administrator or Senior Inspector in daily roadway inspection
• Verify contractor compliance alongside quality control
• Perform inspections and testing as required
• Inspections and tests include but are not limited to earthwork, asphalt, concrete, bridge structures, toll facilities, lighting, pavement markings, signing and signalization, and other roadway safety components

Required Skills And Experience

• High school graduate or equivalent
• Two (2) years of experience in construction inspection, one (1) year of which shall have been bridge and/or roadway construction inspection or an Engineer Intern with a Civil Engineering degree (requires certificate)
• Ability to earn the required qualifications and certifications within one (1) year
• CTQP Concrete Field Inspector Level I CTQP Asphalt Roadway Level I CTQP Earthwork Construction Inspection Level I Certifications
• FDOT Intermediate MOTNuclear Radiation SafetyIMSATraffic Signal Inspector Level IFlorida Stormwater, Erosion, and Sedimentation Control Training and Certification Program for Inspectors and Contractors

Preferred Skills And Experience

• Previous FDOT roadway and/or bridge construction inspection experience
• Critical Structures Construction Issues certification
• FDOT Self Study Computer Based Training course completion

Physical Demands

• The ability to perform field inspections on active construction sites
• The employee must be able to stand and walk for extended periods, navigate uneven terrain, and climb ladders or stairs
• Ability to lift and carry inspection equipment and materials weighing up to 20-30 pounds on an occasional basis, with or without reasonable accommodation
• Work is performed outdoors in varying weather conditions and may include exposure to construction-related hazards
