Summary
The Production Planner will manage and provide subject matter guidance to the production team, playing an integral role in developing and executing manufacturing planning strategies and techniques in both the Extrusion and Press teams. This position coordinates and expedites the flow of production work and materials according to the master production schedules.
Responsibilities
- Balance production capacity across all extrusion and press lines and ensure material is produced and available for downstream processes such as Press and Converting.
- Open and process manufacturing orders, job specific purchase requisitions.
- Manage manufacturing orders / purchase requisitions based on changing customer needs.
- Partner with Master Production Scheduler as well as the converting planner to ensure Schedule obtainment.
- Communicate priorities and workflow processes throughout the value chain as required.
- Prepare production reports.
- Monitor, maintain and control inventory levels of both finished goods, raw goods and work in process materials to meet customer delivery dates.
- Use MRP system to ensure proper material management for materials needed to ensure production schedules are met.
- Determine and periodically review Finished Goods and Raw material min/max levels.
- Collaborate and communicate scheduling changes to customer service, and the manufacturing floor.
- Identify opportunities to improve supply chain efficiency relative to stability, cost, service, and quality.
- Monitor to ensure all ERP system parameters and settings are maintained and updated to align with the Business Unit, Operations and Supply Chain goals.
- Use various analytical skills, reports, and exception messages to manage the production planning.
- Analyze historical product demand patterns, trends and other business information to ensure proper production planning.
- Responsible for understanding and complying with applicable quality, environmental and safety policies.
- Support change management and training efforts to ensure process improvement solutions are adopted and leveraged for maximum benefit.
- Balance daily tactical needs with strategic equipment, procurement and capacity planning needs.
- Identify and present alternative solutions including purchasing from other plants to support customer requirements.
- Recommend improvements and provide support required to enable process standardization and optimization.
- Train End Users on SAP Master Data Governance related processes and procedures.
- Work independently to complete day-to-day deliverables.
- Build effective relationships across all departments.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in supply chain management or equivalent experience in manufacturing planning.
- Minimum of 3 years previous production planning experience.
Skills
- Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills.
- Strong organizational and time management skills; ability to prioritize tasks and meet strict deadlines.
- Strong data analytical skills with the ability to pull data, create reports, summaries and scenario modeling.
- Excellent communication skills, including good customer service/phone skills and flexibility for handling a wide range of activities.
- Understanding of SAP PP Forecasting modules.
- Microsoft Office products; strong computer skills.
- Understanding of workflow, business process automation, and technology a plus.
