Production Planner

About the Role

This position is responsible for the procurement, storage, and flow of materials through the manufacturing facility to the customer.

Responsibilities

• Prepare the Production Plan based on forecast requirements and company inventory guidelines.
• Analyze and forecast material requirements for JIT deliveries.
• Place orders with approved vendors, expedite timely delivery of materials, and maintain inventory levels within prescribed goals.
• Create, release, and route work orders for production.
• Evaluate and schedule the transportation of all outbound loads for both domestic and international shipments.
• Provide adequate lead time for carrier assignments and maximize full truckloads to control costs.
• Communicate with and provide guidance to the shipping/receiving area and prepare shipping paperwork as necessary.
• Support other tasks as assigned related to the supply chain function and inventory.
• Utilize lean principles to achieve continuous improvement of the planning and scheduling process.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, with a specialization in Operations or Supply Chain Management, or 2 years of equivalent experience.
• Exposure and/or experience with production scheduling techniques and methodologies.
• Tier 1 automotive supply chain experience preferred.
• Significant experience with Microsoft Office required.
• MRP knowledge and APICS certification preferred.
