About the role
The Production Planner is responsible for ensuring efficient coordination of materials, inventory, and production schedules to support operational goals and deadlines. The role involves identifying constraints and collaborating with other departments to resolve issues while coordinating communication through customer service to the customer.
Responsibilities
- Plans, schedules, and determines priorities of job orders using MRP system.
- Determines realistic lead times and communicates them to Customer Service.
- Works closely with department Leads to resolve labor and material shortages, backlogs, and other potential schedule interruptions.
- Monitors subcontract job orders to ensure job due dates are met.
- Researches inventory discrepancies and coordinates with the appropriate departments to resolve them.
- Analyzes production data to identify bottlenecks and implement process improvements.
- Manages inventory levels to minimize excess stock and reduce costs.
- Participates in daily production meetings.
- Assists in leading weekly Anticipated Shortage meetings.
- Works alongside Quality, Procurement, and Shipping teams to align deliverables.
Requirements
- 2+ years working in a manufacturing, inventory control, or scheduling environment.
- Prior experience as a Production Planner in manufacturing preferred.
- General knowledge of MRP and manufacturing principles.
- Basic to intermediate Microsoft Excel skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with all levels of employees.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work under pressure while adhering to deadlines.
