Schedule
- Schedule the production plan based on sales and forecasted requirements.
- Ensure production plan is propagated through the ERP system.
Job Management
- Review, firm MRP suggestions (or create jobs) and release shop orders in support of the production schedule, and keep MRP shop order database clean.
- Issue shop order travelers, pick lists, and shop traveler documentation to the production floor.
- Assign serial numbers to finished tanks and transfer to inventory.
- Complete jobs in the ERP system by ensuring all materials have been issued and all quantities are correct.
- Communicate changes to the schedule or build quantity with the Materials and Purchasing (other departments as necessary), especially when changes occur during production.
Interactions
- Work with Materials and Purchasing departments in both the preplanning and execution of the build plan.
- Work with Engineering on jobs for new parts or changes to existing parts, and on special jobs that require modifications to standard shop order travelers.
Accounting
- Work closely with Accounting to ensure the system has the correct production information to generate correct costing information.
Reports
- Maintain Schedule Attainment and KPI reports
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Understand the MRP/ERP system and the impact parameters have on the planning process.
- Solid knowledge of Logistics and Supply Chain processes (MPS production planning, sales/forecasted demand management, capacity leveling, and FG material inventory management).
- Ability to effectively interact with multi-functional areas (Marketing/Sales, Manufacturing, Engineering, Purchasing, Accounting, Quality, etc.).
- Great attention to detail and a tenacious ability to resolve errors to completion.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Strong analytical skills
- Good organizational and planning skills.
Credentials and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or similar discipline.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in planning and/or scheduling with a manufacturing company.
- Familiarity with an ERP system (SAP, IFS, ORACLE, etc.) and common software applications a must.
- Experience using Word and Excel.
- Experience reading and understanding BOM’s (bill of materials).
Other Skills/Abilities or Special Requirements
- Experience with statistical forecasting (for asset management).
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Process Variation Reduction (Six Sigma) concepts and tool sets as they relate to materials management.
- ERP system implementation team experience.
