About the role

In this role, you'll partner across Operations, Supply Chain, Engineering, Quality, Sourcing, Materials Planning, and Supply Network Planning to develop and execute production plans that balance customer demand, manufacturing capacity, inventory health, and business priorities. You'll serve as a key planning partner for your assigned value stream, using data-driven decision-making to optimize production schedules, resolve supply challenges, and support continuous operational excellence.

This position offers the opportunity to influence manufacturing performance, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and help drive successful product launches while supporting a highly regulated medical device manufacturing environment. Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and execute production schedules that align customer demand, manufacturing capacity, inventory targets, and business priorities.
  • Execute planning activities within SAP or other MRP/ERP systems, maintaining accurate planning parameters and master data.
  • Own production planning activities for an assigned manufacturing value stream, ensuring timely execution and adherence to service commitments.
  • Purchase materials to support production.
  • Monitor material availability and inventory health, balancing production requirements while minimizing shortages, excess inventory, and obsolescence.
  • Partner with Operations, Engineering, Quality, Materials Planning, Sourcing, and Supply Network Planning to proactively identify and resolve supply and scheduling challenges.
  • Coordinate with internal and external manufacturing partners to maintain continuity of supply and support efficient production execution.
  • Troubleshoot production planning, scheduling, and MRP issues, identify root causes, and implement sustainable corrective actions.
  • Lead and participate in daily and weekly operational planning meetings, communicating production priorities, material constraints, and recovery plans.
  • Monitor, analyze, and report key production planning and supply chain performance metrics, providing recommendations that improve operational performance.
  • Support new product introductions, engineering changes, and manufacturing transitions by developing effective production and material plans.
  • Present planning updates, operational risks, and recommendations to cross-functional teams and leadership to support informed business decisions.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance planning processes, inventory performance, and operational efficiency.
  • Ensure planning activities comply with quality system requirements, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and applicable regulatory standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in production planning, manufacturing planning, supply chain planning, scheduling, materials planning, operations planning, or a related field.
  • For Baccalaureate degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree that satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A) is required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with ERP/MRP systems, preferably SAP or Blue Yonder.
  • Experience in manufacturing, medical device, pharmaceutical, or another highly regulated industry.
  • Strong analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret data and translate insights into action.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel.
  • Experience maintaining production schedules, inventory plans, and planning master data.
  • Understanding of manufacturing operations, inventory management, and supply chain planning principles.
  • Knowledge of quality systems, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and regulated manufacturing environments.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail while maintaining focus on broader business objectives.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Experience supporting new product introductions or engineering changes.
  • APICS/ASCM CPIM certification or similar supply chain certification.
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or comparable continuous improvement training.
  • Understanding of cost accounting, supplier management, or manufacturing contracts is a plus.

Pay

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD): $67,200.00 - $100,800.00. This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP). The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location.

Schedule

This position works onsite at our Billerica, MA manufacturing campus a minimum of four days per week.
