Production Planner
About the role
The Production Planner role at 3M provides an opportunity to transition from other private, public, government, or military experience to a 3M career. You will collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world, planning and scheduling production work centers, monitoring output to meet customer requirements, and improving operational efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Tap into your curiosity and collaborate with other 3Mers to make an impact by planning and scheduling production work centers.
- Monitor work center output to meet customer requirements and improve operational efficiency.
- Procure materials and communicate future requirements to suppliers to support the production plan.
- Communicate with Production Planning, Value Stream, and Operations Team members to ensure clear understanding and alignment.
- Work closely with business to understand customer requirements and forecasts.
- Collaborate with the manufacturing team, value stream leadership, and supply planners to prioritize and resolve supply constraints and balance service, inventory, and cost to meet business targets.
- Manage capacity by identifying, resolving, and escalating production constraints.
- Execute production planning standard work using supply chain tools, IT systems, and processes.
- Provide high-quality planning analysis to support data-driven decision making.
- Lead and participate in Continuous Improvement projects to enhance customer service, inventory investment, flow, and supply chain efficiency.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution.
- Three (3) years or more combined experience in supply chain, planning, and/or logistics experience in a private, public, government, or military environment.
- Strong data mining, data analysis, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Advanced data analysis and Microsoft Suite experience.
- Strong leadership, communication, interpersonal, and self-motivational skills.
- Experience working with cross-functional teams.
- Experience utilizing Continuous Improvement methodologies.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Supply Chain, Operations Management, and/or Business Analytics from an accredited institution.
- Experience working with JDA, SAP, COMS, Figures, GGSM, GDMR, INVENTO, Reporting and Analytics, Power BI, or other execution systems in a private, public, government, or military environment.
- ASCM (APICS) Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) or willingness to pursue.
- Possess expertise equivalent to that needed to obtain professional certifications in supply chain, transportation, inventory management, or related field.
- Leverage Lean Six Sigma or similar expertise, certification, and/or training.

Schedule
This position is typically full-time and requires on-site work in Alexandria, MN. Travel may be required up to 5% domestically or internationally.
Pay
The expected compensation range for this position is $84,595 - $103,394, which includes base pay plus variable incentive pay, if eligible. Specific compensation offered may vary based on factors such as relevant knowledge, training, skills, work location, and experience.
