Job Summary

Valmont is seeking a Painter for its Estill facility. The ideal candidate will paint composite light poles and accessories according to customer specifications.

Responsibilities

• Select and set up appropriate paint according to print specifications and production schedule
• Clean poles and parts before painting to avoid over-spray
• Place poles properly for painting
• Set up machine for wet mil coverage of 3.5 mils of paint
• Check millage of painted parts and ensure even coverage
• Remove product from machine and place on conveyor for drying
• Label and cover chemical containers in accordance with EPA and fire prevention standards
• Maintain paperwork for daily inspection of filters
• Inspect parts for quality at prescribed intervals
• Report defective material, improper equipment operation, and unusual conditions to supervisor
• Maintain work area and equipment in a clean, safe, and orderly condition
• Follow all standard and/or prescribed safety regulations
• Keep work area and painting equipment clean, emptying trash, putting away tools, etc., at the end of the shift

Required Qualifications

• Proficient with tape measure and hand tools
• Able to read and follow written and oral directions
• Knowledge of pneumatic painting equipment and proper use
• Able to perform basic mathematical calculations
• Able to stand for extended periods, use hands and arms to reach, push, pull, stoop, kneel, and lift up to 60 lbs. without assistance
• Able to work with and around chemicals/solvents and in hot and cold environments
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Ability to utilize proper decision-making techniques
