Job Summary
The Production Operator I is an entry-level role within our manufacturing department. Key responsibilities include executing manufacturing procedures and tasks on various manufacturing equipment, adhering to company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and cGMP guidelines, and maintaining compliance with environmental, health, and safety standards.
About the Role
This position works under constant supervision for the first 12 months. Essential Functions and Detailed Duties:
- Operate assigned manufacturing equipment, including shutdown/start-up of the machines following the established procedures.
- Move around and place the required material for manufacturing so that it is ready to be utilized.
- Ensure that all manufacturing components being used match the manufacturing set-up requirements.
- Perform one or more of the following manufacturing functions following the batch record instructions: coating, compression, encapsulation, granulation/blending, soft gel.
- Complete equipment cleaning according to machine requirements and SOP.
- Execute total changeovers as needed.
- Perform basic mechanical functions including light troubleshooting, correcting simple machine malfunctions, and identifying routine problems.
- Maintain a clean and sanitary workplace.
- Offer suggestions to superiors and follow up on process improvements related to safety, compliance, cost, and productivity.
- Properly document activities in batch records, forms and other GMP documents.
- Identify and report both machine or manual deviations to the supervisor or designee.
- After 1 year of experience and consistently satisfactory performance, can train new Level Operators without experience.
- Follow all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and guidelines.
- Must report unsafe conditions, near misses, and/or injuries in a timely manner.
- Maintain a clean and sanitary workplace.
- Follow applicable safety guidelines while operating the manufacturing equipment.
- Be able to perform other duties as assigned.
Specialized Skills and Knowledge
- Basic mathematical skills.
- Basic mechanical abilities.
- Basic computer skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Ability to work in a team.
Qualifications
- A high school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 1 year of previous manufacturing experience in the pharmaceutical industry, compression experience preferred.
Physical Demands/Factors
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand.
- The employee is frequently required to walk; sit; use hands; talk; and hear.
- The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop; kneel; crouch.
- The employee must occasionally lift and or move up to 50 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and color vision.
Pay and Benefits
- Cash compensation: $22.30 per hour.
