About the role

Operates, sets up, and adjusts Moulder equipment; observes proper moulding of dough to ensure quality product. May be assigned to various makeup and packaging positions including Makeup helper, Break/Lunch Relief, Moulder Operator, Divider Operator, Oven Operator, Lidder, Pan Operator/Pan Area, Slicer/Feeder, Bagger, Caser, or Packaging helper.

Responsibilities

  • Keep conveyors scraped and unjam pans
  • Place pans weighing approximately 6½ lbs. on feed conveyor; remove pans from conveyor at downtime and at end of shift
  • Stack pans on pan trucks; move pan trucks weighing up to 1500 lbs. approximately 30 ft. at beginning and end of shift
  • Rack products as needed; monitor bags and check for quality of product and packaging materials
  • Maintain specific product weights at the divider
  • Setup the oven and proofer per product centerlining and CTS
  • Operate bagger and kwik-lok machines; case products into baskets or cases keeping up with line speed
  • Monitor bags and codes for clarity and correctness; check for quality, proper wrap and bagging
  • Understand code board; feed product into slicer or bagger flites
  • Rack and unrack bread as needed
  • May be called upon to assist other positions during operation and other duties as requested
  • Fill out communication boards daily
  • Maintain work area to "5S" cleanliness, housekeeping and organizational standard

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong decision making and communication skills; ability to utilize/exercise good judgment; ensure issues are quickly resolved and communicated with supervision
  • Food safety awareness: full understanding and adherence to strictest compliance standards including HACCP, CTS, SOP, Safety, GMP, and JSA procedures; focused awareness and prevention of contamination/potential contamination, allergen control, and lot code traceability
  • Formula control: abide to exact formula specifications and procedures to ensure bread quality standards are maintained and label contents are aligned
  • Speed, manual dexterity, bending and lifting required; may stand in one position for prolonged period
  • Ability to deal with a changing work environment and high-pressure situations
  • Must be able to work in a team environment

Qualifications

  • Two years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Good attendance and punctuality required
  • Lifting and reaching up to 10 lbs. to fill flour sifter on moulders; lifting up to 15 lbs. may be required for pans of dough; regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and push/pull heavy loads on wheeled dollies
  • Must understand and follow set HACCP/CTS/GMP/JSA standards

Physical Requirements

  • Stand for extended periods of time
  • Use hands, fingers and arms to reach, feel product and manipulate materials and equipment
  • Walk, stoop, climb, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk and hear
  • Ability to use senses to diagnose and troubleshoot problems

Work Environment

  • Regularly works near moving mechanical parts and is regularly exposed to vibration
  • May be exposed to fumes, airborne particles, hot/cold temperature extremes, high industrial noise levels, forklift traffic and wet environments
  • Must comply with all safety regulations, support plant safety initiatives, proper operating procedures and utilize prescribed safety equipment such as safety eyeglasses, safety shields, gloves, earplugs, respirators, and approved footwear

Pay & Schedule

  • Base rate: $23.00 per hour
  • 3rd shift; generally starts as early as 9:45 PM until finish
  • Overtime and weekend work as needed; starting times and hours may vary depending on coverage due to report-offs and production schedule especially during holidays
  • This position may require overtime as deemed necessary to support operations activities
  • 90-day evaluation period to ensure satisfactory performance
  • Must stay on the job one year
