Production Operator

Essential Duties

• Maintains equipment for daily production of oil and gas.
• Makes computer and meter readings to monitor production.
• Performs regulatory inspections including:
• Testing safety devices at high and low pressures.
• Checking fluid levels in separators, tanks, and other parts of the vessel.
• Inspecting wellheads for leaks and deficiencies.
• Recording data on required forms for computer input.
• Carries out visual inspections by walking around the facility and equipment to check for pollution, leaks, temperature variances, and mechanical problems.
• Performs appropriate repairs and adjustments based on inspections.
• Enters data from recorded levels and pressures into the computer for daily or periodic reporting.
• Cleans equipment and work area to keep them free of oil, trash, and other debris or filth.
• Performs mandated inspections on safety and fire extinguishing equipment by checking their general condition and gauge pressures.
• Schedules and runs/pulls pigs according to an established schedule, inserting and removing them from the trap using either hand or a hoist.
• Makes daily operational decisions of a somewhat complex nature.
