Production Operator

About the Role

The Production Operator sets up and operates machinery to epoxy coat and fabricate rebar according to work orders and shop drawings, ensuring product quality and supporting timely customer delivery.

Responsibilities

• Review fabrication schedules and work orders
• Set controls to create desired bend, cut, or angle
• Activate machine with hand controls
• Inspect bars for quality; touch up ends of bars with paint
• Complete paperwork; tag or label each order; maintain daily production records
• Perform routine preventive maintenance on equipment
• Follow all company safety procedures and wear required PPE at all times
• Assemble cardboard shipping boxes on pallets
• Operate overhead crane, forklift, or other equipment to retrieve or remove steel
• Package and band boxes of fabricated steel

Requirements

• 6 months to one year of on-the-job training
• Basic math skills and ability to read and comprehend work orders
• Prior work experience in a manufacturing environment is desired

Physical Demands

• Stand and walk continuously
• Lift, carry, push, and pull 25 pounds frequently and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds with assistance
• Climb, bend, twist, reach, and crouch frequently
• Eye, hand, and foot coordination to operate in a safe and productive manner
• Vision to read 12pt font from 3 feet away

Machines, Tools, and Equipment

• Bender, shear, CNC, overhead cranes, forklift, cutters, hand tools, tags and bands, measuring devices, angle finder

Required PPE: Earplugs, safety shoes and glasses, gloves, hard hats.

Materials and Products Handled

• Rebar and paint

Environmental Conditions

• Exposure to heat, cold, noise, vibration, fumes, and other potential work hazards

Schedule

40 hours per week - 10 hour shifts, Monday-Thursday, 6 AM – 4:30 PM. Mandatory overtime as required on Fridays seasonally.
