Production Operations Lead Technician

About the role

The successful candidate will provide day-to-day technical leadership for composite technicians, coordinating daily work priorities and supporting safe, efficient execution to achieve area goals. They will mentor, train, and coach technicians to develop relevant skills, uphold quality and efficiency, and maintain high morale. They will act as the safety champion of the area, eliminating hazards and driving compliance to PPE standards for the workcenter, process, or manufacturer specification. They will partner with Engineering to translate build requirements into clear technician workstreams, monitoring progress, resolving issues, and escalating risks to ensure delivery against production timelines.

Responsibilities

• Provides day-to-day technical leadership for composite technicians, coordinating daily work priorities and supporting safe, efficient execution to achieve area goals.
• Mentors, trains, and coaches technicians to develop relevant skills, uphold quality and efficiency, and maintain high morale.
• Acts as the safety champion of the area, eliminating hazards and driving compliance to PPE standards for the workcenter, process, or manufacturer specification.
• Promotes a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within the team.
• Partners with Engineering to translate build requirements into clear technician workstreams.
• Maintains accurate records and reports on production metrics and technician performance.
• Escalates risks and issues to management and ensures timely resolution.

Requirements

• 2+ years experience leading or mentoring technicians in a production environment.
• 3+ years of experience working in a production and manufacturing environment.
• Extensive hands-on experience in composites manufacturing.
• Proficiency using mechanical and electric hand tools, along with test equipment.
• Proven ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, work instructions, and product data sheets.
• Physically capable of standing 6–10 hours per day and lifting up to 50 lbs.
• Adaptable and able to work extended hours when production demands require.

Qualifications

• High school degree or GED certification.
• Prior experience in a fast-paced manufacturing setting.
• Comfortable pushing an intense but sustainable pace.
• Enthusiasm for boating, clean energy, and the water.

Skills

• Strong leadership and mentoring skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Knowledge of composite materials and manufacturing processes.
• Experience with quality control and assurance.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.

Pay

The base salary for this role is S3: $39/hr + lead differential.

Schedule

This is a full-time, on-site role at our Los Angeles headquarters. Hours may vary based on production needs.
