Production Manager (Operations Management)
Salaried Pay Range: $48,750–70,000 (varies based on strategic talent planning needs). During the initial job training period, the position will be non-exempt hourly with a pay range of $19.73/hour to $28.34/hour.

Responsibilities
- Oversee the overall management and direction of the production process, including leadership of the team, in accordance with company policies, procedures, regulations, and laws.
- Manage specific departments spanning the production room and sales floor to ensure the right items are priced accurately, displayed on shop-able racks, and available at the right time.
- Conduct quality control checks and work side-by-side with the team to observe, assess, coach, and counsel performance while setting the work pace.
- Store Performance:
- Ensure store performance meets financial targets and key metrics based on annual and quarterly operating plans.
- Monitor and set the pace of work, analyze key metrics, and act on observations to drive results.
- Inspect the sales floor for shop-ability and prioritize team member activities to enhance customer/donor experience.
- Leadership and Development:
- Lead, direct, and supervise supervisors and production team members, including planning staffing needs and coordinating recruitment, selection, and training.
- Regularly observe, assess, coach, and counsel team members to develop high-potential individuals through guided work.
- Maintain a respectful, values-driven workplace with open communication and actionable feedback.
- Provide recognition, address complaints, and resolve issues in alignment with company values and policies.
- Fulfill manager-on-duty responsibilities and oversee the entire store as acting manager-in-charge when assigned.
- Customer/Donor Service:
- Respond to customer/donor questions, requests, and complaints to deliver a positive and memorable experience.
- Train and coach team members on customer/donor service expectations and actively seek feedback for improvements.
- Implement sales and marketing promotions and programs as required.
- Assist donors per company standards.
- Consistent Production:
- Manage item put-out condition and volume, production margin, pricing spread, and seasonal backstock.
- Ensure all sellable items are available to customers and plan, schedule, and direct team workflow to meet objectives.
- Oversee quality control checks at all production stages, including during production, prior to rolling, on the floor, and at recycle.
- Lead the morning maintenance program to prepare the sales floor for business each day.
- Partner with the Community Donation Manager/Retail Sales Manager to manage OSD flow and process.
- Ensure accuracy of daily stock-on-hand (SOH) and merchandise supply requirements.
- Leverage the Savers recycling program to reduce landfill waste and promote reuse of unsold/un-saleable items.
- Loss Prevention and Safety:
- Protect company assets and information by ensuring safe handling, security, and integrity.
- Promote loss prevention awareness and uphold procedures and policies.
- Maintain a safe work environment through education, consistent follow-up, and support of the Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC).
- Oversee certification processes for Big Joe, baler, and Lock-Out/Tag Out (LOTO).
- In the absence of the Store Manager, oversee the store and team in accordance with all policies, procedures, regulations, and laws.
- Perform any other tasks, functions, or responsibilities as instructed by a supervisor or superior manager.
Requirements
- Excellent presentation and communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to observe, assess, and coach the work of others.
- Strong ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written or verbal form.
- Ability to reason, make decisions, and use independent judgment in various situations.
- Proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications.
- High School diploma required; post-secondary degree/diploma preferred.
- Results-driven retail store management or industrial management experience.
- Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
Physical Requirements
- Frequently lift and carry products weighing less than 5 lbs; occasionally lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
- Occasional pushing and pulling of racks/carts weighing 50 to 250 pounds using 4–10 lbs of force.
- Frequent reaching in various directions to inspect/handle merchandise, validate work processes, and train/coach the team.
- Possess dexterity for complex hand-eye tasks, including keyboarding, writing, and merchandise inspection.
- Continuous standing, frequent walking, stooping, bending, twisting, and occasional kneeling.
- Frequent reading of written and electronic documents and product labels.
- Continuous verbal communication and hearing to interact with management, team members, and customers.
- Occasional exposure to hazardous machinery (compactor, baler, Big Joe), solvents (cleaners, detergents), radiation (microwave in break room), dust, and temperature fluctuations.
- Ability to adjust work schedule to business needs, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Able to safely navigate work environments with large industrial machinery, heavy equipment, elevated/uneven surfaces, heights, and moving forklifts.
- Frequent reaching to move/stack boxes, handle product, and stock display racks/shelves.
- Continuous standing, frequent walking, stooping, bending, twisting, and occasional kneeling for stacking/stocking products.
