Production Supervisor - Food Manufacturing
Salary: $60,000 - $90,000 per year/ DOE
Location and Schedule: Monday - Friday, 6:00 AM - 4:00 PM until production is complete
Occasional weekend work as needed
Ability to rotate between two Baltimore-area locations when required
Position Summary: We are seeking an experienced Production Manager to oversee daily manufacturing operations in a food production environment. This is a hands-on leadership role focused on supervising production teams, ensuring safety and quality compliance, and driving continuous improvement across operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and lead production crews in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
- Utilize World Class Manufacturing principles to drive performance and operational results
- Plan and manage daily production operations from meat preparation through packing, including trimming, injecting, brine mixing, packing, and recordkeeping
- Ensure alignment and prioritization between production and support teams
- Enforce compliance with all company policies, HACCP, GMPs, safety, and quality standards
- Complete administrative duties related to production and quality performance
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives using structured problem-solving and root-cause analysis tools
- Coach, train, and develop team members to meet performance, quality, cost, and service goals
- Provide timely feedback, coaching, and counseling to employees
- Maintain a strong floor presence and promote positive employee relations through open communication and engagement
- Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement
- Maintain a hands-on management approach on the production floor
Qualifications and Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Manufacturing, Management, or related field preferred
- 3 or more years of experience in a meat or further processing environment
- 2 or more years of direct supervisory experience in manufacturing
- Strong understanding of food manufacturing regulations, including HACCP and GMPs
- Experience with plant safety programs
- Proven ability to define performance expectations and hold teams accountable
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and team-building abilities
- Comfortable giving and receiving candid, constructive feedback
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Demonstrated traits include a proactive mindset, adaptability to change, courage, and willingness to take calculated risks
Preferred Qualifications
- BRC knowledge
- Bilingual in English and Spanish
