About the role

L.A. Darling Company LLC is seeking a Fabrication Production Manager to lead the fabrication and metal processing segment of our manufacturing organization. Reporting to the Operations Manager, this role oversees a team responsible for lasers, forming, welding, uprights, and shelves. The manager ensures inventory accuracy, maintains communication with stakeholders, drives safety and quality improvements, and manages staff and capacity.

Responsibilities

  • FULL ownership of the manufacturing operations which include: Lasers, Forming, Welding, Uprights, Shelves
  • Ownership of all pre- and post-fabricated units until delivered to the warehouse and shipping team
  • Maintains assigned areas inventory accuracy
  • Ensures a daily communication chain back to stakeholders for product needs and availability
  • Drives safety, quality, delivery, cost, and 5S improvements in all assigned production areas
  • Tracks and reports safety, quality, delivery, and cost on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis
  • Reports at daily management meetings with the team to discuss daily goals, objectives, and company/department updates
  • Updates and communicates labor needs regularly
  • Defines staffed and potential capacity numbers for all areas assigned
  • Manages area leads and provides effective employee relations and leadership
  • Identifies talent, including primary and backup roles, and creates succession plans
  • Handles employee concerns and issues, including incident reports, and submits them to HR
  • Engages in the recruiting and hiring process and develops the team through training, coaching, and feedback
  • Develops and executes Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • Holds assigned team accountable for following defined policies and procedures
  • Ensures progressive discipline when necessary
  • Ensures compliance with all federal, state, and local regulatory agencies

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required, Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Minimum 10 years’ manufacturing experience
  • Minimum 7 years’ leadership experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Lean manufacturing experience preferred
