About the role
The Production Manager will manage the day-to-day operations, including safety policies, production, personnel, housekeeping, shipping & maintenance for our Springfield MA corrugated sheet plant. You will serve as a member of the leadership team and partner with the general manager and business unit resources to provide direction for our 100-employee union and non-union workforce, ensuring we meet our customers' needs safely with the highest quality product. You will also serve as a coach to team members and assist in the development and evaluation of direct reports.
Responsibilities
- Provide leadership to ensure the manufacturing objectives are accomplished in a safe, timely, and cost-effective manner.
- Review customer requirements and specifications to identify improvement opportunities and implement solutions to increase customer satisfaction.
- Cook up and maintain ongoing, effective, safety plans to ensure program adoption and implementation.
- Offer new ideas to support fulfillment of department goals and procedures for continuous improvement, retention of customer base, company profitability, and employee job satisfaction.
- Communicate across various stakeholder groups, building effective relationships with multiple resources and drive KPIs and metrics.
- Partner with the GM to manage P&L, manufacturing costs, and operating efficiencies to improve plant profitability.
- Monitor and control waste management to lower production costs and reduce environmental impacts.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree from four-year college or university; or 7 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience in a high speed, fast paced industrial environment, preferably with no redundancy of equipment.
- 5 years of leadership experience, packaging manufacturing is valued.

- Proven experience using various industrial software packages.
- Ability to work in fast paced JIT (just-in-time) manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrated expertise in process management to ensure production efficiency.
