Position Purpose/Summary
The Position Title: Production Manager at The Visual Pak is reporting into Title: Operations Manager. This role is designed to create a high-performance, highly engaged culture for achieving client work output with specific focus on Quality, Safety, and Continuous Improvement metrics. The Production Manager is responsible for leading and managing the production area and its associated support systems.
Position Responsibilities
- Selects, trains, and manages assigned personnel: production
- Maintains a safe work environment & works directly with EHS management team
- Is responsible for overall people management of the work activities that need to occur for the production area and its associated support systems
- Cultivates a positive attitude, collaborative, cross-trained, and problem-solving workforce
- Reviews and approves Staffing Agency time sheets for accuracy and errors
- Manages daily manufacturing operations of lines and shifts to ensure the production plan is executed in a manner that meets or exceeds quality & cost
- Aligns with customers and Planning Co-Workers to develop, implement, maintain, or reallocate plan to ensure the daily production schedule is achieved
- Expected to proactively produce meaningful reports or records on production activity including but not limited to output, challenges, resources, expenses, and any other pertinent data to drive strategy or improve facility capacity
- Performs daily production analyses and initiates or recommends necessary improvements where needed
- Documents and maintains production processes enabling analysis for ongoing process improvements
- Resolves quality, service & cost issues through quality review, improvements, metrics, and output accountability
- Manages production supply inventory levels which may include projecting quantity and timing of resources
- Actively participates in the safety committee in cooperation with the Quality Manager and EHS management team
- Develop and maintain production line efficiencies that meet and exceed established target rates
- Develop and implement scrap reduction initiatives for identified lines and materials
- Conducts employee performance reviews to provide feedback and develop their skills
- Participates in work-related seminars and classes to foster personal and professional growth

Qualifications
- Knowledge-Skills-Abilities
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in operations management or relatable Engineering field, or other similar topic highly preferred. Equivalent progressive work experience in lieu of educational training is acceptable.
- Certificates or greater in Lean Manufacturing, Process Management, or Leadership helpful.
- Experience: Minimum of 7 years of related experience in a contract manufacturing environment, including 3 years as a recent production manager/supervisor. Direct experience managing and developing diverse multi-person teams; including participatory oversight of Staffing Agency personnel; strong interpersonal attention. Experience collaborating and partnering with Staffing Agencies for workforce resources.
- Experience: Practiced knowledge having to do with employment rules, policies, and regulations. Experience in safety, regulated production/GMP, planning, logistics, quality, engineering, or other related areas. Experience with Lean Manufacturing practices is strongly preferred.
- Knowledge: Demonstrated ability to analyze production data to best plan for production output through workforce placement and automation resources. Solid capacity with process management and improvement, inventory control, quality standards and measurements. Must have good reasonable judgement, common sense approach to business and people. Superior problem-solving mindset using root cause assessment and positive attitude reasoning. Must work well under pressure, particularly with organization of work, self, and resources; prioritizing and accountability to due dates.
- Technology/Software: Must be computer literate, including comfortable business proficiency in Microsoft Office software, email, and electronic time and attendance technology. Experience with an ERP system in a manufacturing environment is a must. Preferred system: Navision, or a relatable competence with a current version of a WMS is necessary. Visio Knowledge desired or similar software competency.
- Communication: Must have excellent communication skills (both verbal and written), including relating to English as a second language workforce; bilingual helpful with English fluency expected. Ability to convey compelling reasoning to a diverse audience in multiple formats, including reports, visuals. Comfortable addressing questions, concerns, and a sense of urgency with on-demand requests that may originate from internal and external audiences.
- Physical Capabilities: Strength: Must be able to regularly lift 55 lbs. Movement: Must be able to stand/walk for an entire eight-hour shift. Occasional bending, crouching, and crawling. Hearing: Must be able to hear and understand work direction in a loud, distracting environment. Vision: Must be able to judge distance, identify details, and view computer screen regularly.
