Position Summary
Red River Commodities is seeking a dedicated and results-oriented Swing Shift Production Manager to oversee operations at our SunGold facility, where we roast, season, and package premium sunflower seeds.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all production activities during the swing shift, ensuring that daily production schedules are met efficiently and on time.
- Monitor and manage the roasting, seasoning, and packaging processes to ensure compliance with quality and safety standards.
- Cook with the maintenance and quality teams to minimize downtime and address issues promptly.
- Lead, supervise, and support swing shift production staff, including Maintenance, Machine operators, Packaging Associates, Production Associates and other team members.
- Assign tasks, provide direction, and ensure all employees understand their responsibilities.
- Conduct regular team meetings to communicate expectations, goals, and safety updates.
- Maintain and enforce quality control procedures to ensure finished products meet customer and company standards.
- Conduct regular inspections of production lines and equipment to identify and resolve quality issues.
- Work closely with the quality assurance team to implement corrective actions when necessary.
- Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce waste.
- Track and report key performance indicators (KPIs) for production, quality, and safety.
- Collaborate with other shifts to ensure a seamless transition and maintain operational consistency.
- Promote and enforce a culture of safety by ensuring compliance with all workplace safety policies and regulations.
- Conduct regular safety audits and address any concerns or violations immediately.
- Ensure that all employees are properly trained on equipment operation and safety procedures.
- Maintain accurate production records and documentation.
Qualifications
- A high school diploma or equivalent required; a bachelor’s degree in operations management, food science, or a related field preferred.
- At least 5 years of production experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
- Experience in food manufacturing, particularly roasting and packaging processes, is highly desirable.
- Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to motivate and manage a diverse team.
- Proficiency in production management software, Microsoft Office Suite, and familiarity with ERP systems.
- Solid understanding of quality control, safety regulations, and operational best practices.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of sunflower seed processing or similar food manufacturing processes.
- Experience with lean manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies.
