Production Manager

About the Role

The Production Manager ensures customer expectations for product delivery and quality are met by executing the production schedule and optimizing all available resources. This role fosters a safe, clean, respectful, and rewarding environment for all Production staff while developing and improving manufacturing methods.

Responsibilities

• Works with Scheduling/Customer Service to prioritize manufacturing, balancing capacity, quality, and demands to generate the best production schedule.
• Ensures all documentation is complete, accessible, and accurate, including production, scrap, and labor reporting.
• Develops a comprehensive 5-S and Lean Manufacturing program, including Setup Reduction and Standardization, with participation across all shifts.
• Works with Department Managers to ensure compliance with ISO guidelines and drives continuous improvements, such as scrap reduction and Cost of Quality.
• Coordinates with Human Resources to enhance employee relations and build a culture of appreciation for exceptional performance.
• Assists shift supervisors with staff mentoring, coaching, reviewing, recognizing, and rewarding.
• Develops, executes, and maintains a comprehensive training matrix for all staff, highlighting career growth opportunities.
• Leads and directs full-shift production activity in the absence of the Shift Supervisor, following sound manufacturing practices.
• Facilitates smooth transitions between shifts at Supervisor, Technician, and Operator levels.
• Confirms correct execution of work cells, setups, processing, and quality submissions.
• Works with the Business Development team to coordinate new program and product launches.
• Analyzes workforce utilization, space requirements, and workflow; designs equipment and workspace layouts for maximum efficiency.
• Uses specialized knowledge of Injection Molding to supervise, plan, organize, and assign work to employees operating production equipment.
• Monitors production team output, investigates quality, productivity, machine, and material issues, and takes corrective action.
• Prepares production, employee incident, and coaching reports; performs periodic evaluations of subordinates.
• Adheres to federal, state, and company regulations, policies, processes, and procedures.
• Performs other duties as requested, directed, or assigned; maintains predictable and reliable attendance.

Requirements

• Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or two years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Previous experience in a manufacturing leadership role within custom manufacturing, electronics, or HMI industry.
• Ability to read and interpret Quality, Safety, Maintenance, and Operating procedures, as well as mechanical drawings.
• Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.
• Ability to calculate figures such as discounts, proportions, percentages, area, and volume.
• Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra, geometry, and Statistical Process Control.
• Ability to define and prioritize problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
• Ability to interpret technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and handle abstract and concrete variables.
• Must be a currently licensed lift truck operator.
• Willingness to travel to customer sites and manufacturing facilities as needed.
