About the Role

This Production Manager supports Mativ’s Coretec Operation, leading and managing the operations of all production areas to ensure safety, quality, manufacturing standards, and financial goals are achieved. The role reports to the Plant Operations Manager and is based in Athens, GA.

Responsibilities

• Assists the Plant Operations Leader in developing and formulating long- and short-range planning, policies, programs, and objectives for the assigned area.
• Provides leadership, support, and guidance to employees to ensure organizational goals and objectives are met.
• Leads, mentors, and trains production staff to enhance skills and performance.
• Communicates area performance, projects, and initiatives across the business.
• Drives optimum team performance in safety, quality, delivery, cost, and development.
• Reviews production variances, scrap, and cycle count reports to ensure accuracy and drive improvements.
• Provides motivation, support, and guidance to all employees.
• Makes recommendations about manufacturing plant operations and establishes procedures to maintain high standards, ensuring products conform to customer and company quality standards.
• Implements manufacturing policies and programs to guide the organization in maintaining and improving its competitive position and profitability.
• Oversees performance management for all production employees.
• Partners closely with other department leaders (Human Resources, Warehouse, Quality, R&D, Finance, Engineering, etc.) to drive effective plant operations.
• Initiates and coordinates major projects (e.g., plant layout changes, installation of capital equipment, major repairs).
• Stays current on technology and leading manufacturing practices.
• Owns the results of the assigned area and drives change and improvements with the team.
• Performs additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Engineering, or a related field (preferred).
• Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, quality control, and lean manufacturing principles.
• Excellent leadership and team management skills.
• Ability to work effectively with others in a manufacturing environment.
• Proficiency in using manufacturing software and tools for process improvement.

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of Six Sigma/Lean Manufacturing.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
