Principal Responsibilities

  • Implements manufacturing operations business plans to include all program requirements, employee safety, environmental compliance, image, labor hours, cycle, production costs and capital improvements.
  • Ensures all established costs, quality, and delivery commitments are met.
  • Obtains data regarding types, quantities, specifications, and delivery dates of products ordered.
  • Provides guidance to the development of a manufacturing plan, including personnel requirements, material needs, subcontract requirements, facility needs, and tooling and equipment needs and maintenance requirements.
  • Captures, stores, and retrieves production data for reports.
  • Assists with training and ensures all assigned employees are aware of and comply with company, government, and customer policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Develops employees to maximize their potential.
  • Works with plant manager to establish budget, and reviews budget on an ongoing basis.
  • Participates and contributes to company safety program.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelors; or four to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience: Supervisory experience in wood products and other manufacturing environments.
  • Licenses/Certifications: NA

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

  • Knowledge and practical experience of lean manufacturing methods.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • General experience in manufacturing, quality control, safety, and production processes.
  • Possess strong Management, Planning, Leadership and Communication Skills, and Human relation skills – coaching, team building, and conflict resolution.
  • Strong ability to manage multiple demands, set priorities, identify and address problems, meet deadlines and manage plant safety orientation.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of email, spreadsheet software, database software, word processing software, and presentation software.
