Principal Responsibilities
- Implements manufacturing operations business plans to include all program requirements, employee safety, environmental compliance, image, labor hours, cycle, production costs and capital improvements.
- Ensures all established costs, quality, and delivery commitments are met.
- Obtains data regarding types, quantities, specifications, and delivery dates of products ordered.
- Provides guidance to the development of a manufacturing plan, including personnel requirements, material needs, subcontract requirements, facility needs, and tooling and equipment needs and maintenance requirements.
- Captures, stores, and retrieves production data for reports.
- Assists with training and ensures all assigned employees are aware of and comply with company, government, and customer policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Develops employees to maximize their potential.
- Works with plant manager to establish budget, and reviews budget on an ongoing basis.
- Participates and contributes to company safety program.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelors; or four to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience: Supervisory experience in wood products and other manufacturing environments.
- Licenses/Certifications: NA
Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
- Knowledge and practical experience of lean manufacturing methods.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- General experience in manufacturing, quality control, safety, and production processes.
- Possess strong Management, Planning, Leadership and Communication Skills, and Human relation skills – coaching, team building, and conflict resolution.
- Strong ability to manage multiple demands, set priorities, identify and address problems, meet deadlines and manage plant safety orientation.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
- Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
- To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of email, spreadsheet software, database software, word processing software, and presentation software.
