As the Production Manager, you will oversee, plan, and organize manufacturing operations to ensure products are produced efficiently, on time, within budget, and meet quality and safety standards. This role drives continuous improvement, establishes manufacturing processes, ensures effective use of resources, and supports long-term operational excellence. The Production Manager collaborates with cross-functional teams and provides leadership to supervisors and production staff.
Responsibilities
- Lead daily production operations to achieve safety, quality, delivery, and cost targets.
- Plan and monitor capacity, resource allocation, and production schedules to maximize efficiency.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives, including lean manufacturing, 5S, and Six Sigma practices.
- Drive operational performance against budgets, forecasts, and key performance indicators.
- Contribute to organizational planning and long-term operational strategy as part of the management team.
- Implement and enforce safety standards to comply with legal and company requirements.
- Ensure manufacturing processes support company quality standards and continuous improvement efforts.
- Monitor product quality issues and initiate corrective actions to maintain consistent output.
- Maintain performance standards for production lines and employees.
- Collaborate with and help direct production planning, material flow, and resource utilization to optimize processes and resources.
- Review and present operational reports such as productivity, safety, financial, and production planning updates.
- Enhance coordination and collaboration between production, support services, scheduling, purchasing, and other departments.
- Prepare and present operational status reports to the management team to communicate production and budgetary projections and status updates.
- Apply business acumen, budgeting, and cost control activities and measures.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Supervise supervisors and/or non-supervisory employees.
- Responsible for hiring, training, performance evaluations, and addressing employee relations issues.
Requirements
- Strong knowledge of production and manufacturing processes.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Ability to interpret policies, safety rules, operating instructions, and technical documents.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making abilities.
- Maintain confidentiality related to business and personnel information.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, operational management, leadership, or a related field (required).
- 5–10 years of experience in manufacturing, production operations, or a related field (required).
- 2+ years of supervisory or management experience (preferred).
Skills
- Effective communicator who can interpret information clearly and accurately to concisely communicate results and recommendations to stakeholders.
- Collaborative partner who builds and leverages cross-functional relationships to bring together ideas, information, use cases, and industry analyses to develop best practices.
- Intermediate proficiency with spreadsheets, Microsoft Office Suite, and ERP systems.
