Production Manager
About the role
The Production Manager oversees day-to-day operational activities to ensure efficient production, high product quality, and achievement of organizational goals. This role maintains operational standards, procedures, and performance metrics to maximize productivity, profitability, and customer satisfaction. The position directly supervises operational leadership and collaborates cross-functionally to ensure timely production, quality assurance, safety compliance, and operational excellence.
Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain operational programs and processes that drive efficiency, quality, and continuous improvement.
- Oversee daily operational performance including production output, quality standards, on-time delivery, and cost control.
- Develop and manage departmental budgets while identifying opportunities to reduce costs, eliminate waste, and improve profitability.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations, operational policies, and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Partner with safety teams to support and promote workplace safety programs and a strong safety culture.
- Train, coach, and develop supervisors and managers to strengthen leadership capability and ensure operational continuity.
- Foster a collaborative work environment that promotes teamwork, accountability, and employee engagement.
- Monitor staffing levels and operational resource needs to maintain productivity and efficiency.
- Identify and implement process improvements that enhance quality, safety, efficiency, and profitability.
- Analyze operational metrics and performance indicators to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
- Communicate operational performance, challenges, and improvement opportunities to senior leadership.
- Collaborate with departments such as Quality, Engineering, Supply Chain, Sales, and Human Resources to align operational priorities.
- Ensure adherence to company policies, operational procedures, and quality standards.
- Drive accountability for operational performance and ensure teams meet established goals and targets.
- Oversee recruitment, hiring, and training of operational employees and leadership staff.
- Provide direction and oversight for scheduling, task assignments, and workload management.
- Conduct timely and constructive employee performance evaluations.
- Handle employee coaching, discipline, and termination in accordance with company policies and procedures.

- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, results-driven environment.
- Experience with continuous improvement initiatives such as Lean, Six Sigma, or process optimization.
- Strong technical and operational understanding of systems, equipment, and workflow processes.
- Strong understanding of written and spoken English including grammar, spelling, and composition.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States as a condition of employment.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in business, operations management, engineering, or a related field preferred.
- Several years of experience in operations management, manufacturing, logistics, or related operational leadership roles.
- Demonstrated experience managing teams and overseeing operational performance.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret operational documents, reports, and procedures.
- Ability to write reports, correspondence, and operational documentation.
- Ability to effectively present information to employees, leadership, and stakeholders.
- Bilingual language skills may be beneficial depending on workforce demographics.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations including percentages, ratios, and performance metrics.
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee may occasionally be exposed to operational or production environments that include moving mechanical parts, equipment noise, temperature variations, and other environmental factors. The noise level in the work environment may vary depending on operational areas.
Physical Demands
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to occasionally lift up to 15 pounds.
- Must be able to walk through operational or production areas as required.
- May be required to stand, bend, stretch, or move throughout operational facilities.
Schedule
This is a full-time position. Standard workdays and hours are typically Monday through Friday, with additional hours or weekend work required as operational needs dictate.
Travel
Up to 5% travel requirement.
