About the role

Process Operating Trainee position focused on developing the skills needed to operate equipment safely and efficiently in an industrial environment.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain the necessary skills to operate all equipment per operating and safety procedures.
  • Maintain accurate records and logs as required in the process.
  • Manually operate valves to support safe and efficient plant operations.
  • Unplug process lines as needed.
  • Perform safe-out of equipment when required.
  • Troubleshoot operational issues.
  • Initiate and enter maintenance notifications into SAP as needed.
  • Utilize process area equipment to ensure safe and efficient operations.
  • Communicate with supervision and complete tasks as assigned.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and ability to perform all necessary make-ups for process operations.
  • Maintain accurate records for all make-up processes.
  • Perform all required safety equipment checks.
  • Conduct routine visual checks on all equipment, monitoring operations and conditions.
  • Execute proper lock-ins and lock-outs.
  • Perform basic maintenance tasks, including:
    • Breaking flanges for safe-out.
    • Connecting hoses.
    • Changing small valves, filters, and cleaning equipment.
    • Assisting maintenance personnel.
  • Maintain a high standard of housekeeping to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Perform additional duties as required, including those covered by other BR production roles.
  • Assist the team in addressing issues related to process equipment, product quality, safety, and environmental concerns.
  • Take immediate action to prevent or minimize damage caused by operational issues.
  • Base decisions and actions on experience, plant policy, and supervisory guidance.

  • Carry out job functions in accordance with site and corporate Responsible Care® - Health, Environment, Safety, and Security (RC-HESS) initiatives.
  • Know and use site/work area HESQ procedures and work practices at all times.
  • Maintain a clean and uncluttered work area.
  • Immediately report all incidents, injuries, illnesses, exposures (e.g., chemical), and near-misses.
  • Immediately correct and/or report all hazardous acts and conditions.

Physical Demands

  • Regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
  • Frequently required to stand, walk, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and may frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Must be able to talk, hear, and taste or smell.
