About the role
In the Production Lead I role, you will lead the day-to-day operations of production employees, maintain positive employee relations, and support the Production Manager and the Management team.
Responsibilities
- Able to perform and be well versed in the Packer I, II and Material Handler I duties.
- Forecast, plan, and make necessary workforce adjustments to align with the production schedule.
- Coordinate all employee-related breaks to assure appropriate coverage.
- Assure the team operates consistently within the policies and procedures of VPET USA Inc.
- Understand and enforce GMP practices.
- Develop the team to solve day-to-day operational issues and reach performance goals.
- Communicate quality issues, shift issues, order changes, and audit the shift's Daily Production Report for accuracy.
- Notify appropriate departments of any issues related to Warehouse, Maintenance, Quality, etc.
- Train employees per VPET's Quality Manual System, including procedures and work instructions.
- Audit employees for adherence to VPET's Quality Manual System, including procedures and work instructions.
- Make decisions regarding employee performance.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, set priorities, identify and address problems, and meet deadlines.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities.
- Computer skills, including Microsoft programs, to track administrative tasks such as report writing, analysis of work orders, and evaluations.
- Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently (bilingual is a plus).
- Basic to proficient math and computer skills.
- ERP/MRP system experience beneficial.
- Ability to work overtime and weekends as required.
Physical Requirements
- Requires 90% of time standing and walking on the production floor.
- Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged periods of time.
- May be required to lift and carry up to 30 lbs. and use a team lift approach when needed.
- Must be able to push, pull, twist, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, and crawl.
- Must be able to perform repetitive motions such as reaching and grasping.
- Work environment is in a warehouse with temperatures varying between hot or cold based on outside conditions.
- Fast-paced environment with constantly changing priorities.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in a supervisory role or a combination of experience and education preferred.
- Experience in the plastic bottle industry or in a manufacturing environment preferred.
