Production Lead

About the role
The Production Lead ensures the highest quality and consistent products by performing all duties meticulously and assisting with daily workflow. This role supports production team members, especially when a Supervisor is not present, and is responsible for training and coaching team members in collaboration with Supervisors and Managers. The Production Lead opens and/or closes shifts and must be able to work a flexible schedule.
Responsibilities
- Prep, mix, cook, produce, pour, deposit, pull, and store all facility consumables and products.
- Accurately prepare ingredients, workstations, and equipment for production, including regular equipment checks.
- Maintain high-quality standards during shifts, including QA/QC of all products for weights, appearance, and flavor profile.
- Manage time effectively for yourself and your team to meet daily production expectations.
- Work well with others in high-pressure situations with a sense of urgency.
- Correctly infuse products by thoroughly scraping, turning, lifting, and rotating for the appropriate time.
- Accurately read, record, and communicate all kitchen data, counts, measurements, and weights.
- Perform opening and closing duties.
- Ensure proper storage of all facility consumables and products in compliance with safety practices.
- Maintain and comply with sanitation and safety standards; keep a clean and organized kitchen.
- Perform visual quality inspections on products and minimize waste where possible.
- Communicate information and respond to questions/suggestions from various levels within the company.
- Assist Production Supervisors and Managers in training and coaching Production Support employees on proper procedures, techniques, and compliance protocol.
- Communicate quality or safety discrepancies to Supervisors, Managers, and/or Directors.
- Make recommendations to management regarding personnel evaluation and training of the Production Support team.
- Assist the Production Manager or Production Supervisor as needed.
- Ensure a safe working environment; review and communicate daily on all safety-related topics.
- Assist with Packaging responsibilities as required.
- Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned based on business needs.
Requirements
- At least 1 year of directly related experience and/or training in a food production or kitchen environment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 1 year of lead or supervisory experience.
- Experience and familiarity with kitchen sanitation and safety regulations.
- Experience working with a high sense of urgency.
- Computer Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Suite (core applications), Google, Slack; experience in Jira and/or other management platforms preferred.
- Must be able to effectively communicate in English, both verbally and written.
- Basic mathematical skills: addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
- Occasional travel required between buildings and sites.
- Ability to maintain/manage confidential information.
- Must be 21 years of age or older (state regulation).
- ServSafe or Food Handler’s Card preferred.
- Must pass a background check.
- Must obtain all applicable state-required permits, licenses, and certifications.
