Production Lead

About the role
The Production Lead supervises and trains production personnel in daily operations during their shift, ensuring the final product is manufactured safely, meets high quality standards, and is delivered on time to the customer.
Responsibilities
- Supervise personnel, production workflow, safety, and quality
- Operate all work center stations for employee training and troubleshooting
- Confirm employees are instructed on proper safety procedures
- Assist Production Manager with production line personnel and workflow
- Train new hires and transfers into the department
- Conduct beginning/end of shift meetings to relay critical production, quality, and machine information
- Lead beginning of shift huddles covering safety, announcements, and task assignments
- Ensure all personnel wear correct safety equipment and maintain safety awareness throughout the shift
- Verify proper techniques are applied to comply with quality control procedures
- Report safety hazards or equipment malfunctions to maintenance and safety coordinator
- Ensure work effort meets company quality standards and production capacities
- Provide feedback to Production Manager regarding employee performance
- Assist with performance evaluations for shift personnel
- Complete verbal and written disciplinary warnings/counseling per company policy
- Complete production reports at shift end, including work performed, back orders, and hot items
- Assist Safety Coordinator with monthly safety trainings for shift personnel
- Maintain regular attendance, safely perform tasks, and adhere to all safety policies
- Communicate effectively with shift counterparts, production manager, plant manager, technicians, HR, customer service, and maintenance
- Enforce safety rules and maintain clean, orderly work areas
- Direct production activities to align with effective operations
- Allocate shift personnel to maintain production efficiencies
- Encourage and lead maximum shift production flow while ensuring safety and quality
Requirements
- At least 3 years of Lead/Supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment
- Able to operate under pressure, meet strict deadlines, and effectively prioritize workload
- Strong leadership, verbal and written communication, interpersonal, organizational, and time management skills
- Ability to work in a factory environment and perform manual labor
- Effectively communicate with people at all levels and from various backgrounds
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Ability to read and perform mathematical calculations with numbers, fractions, and decimals
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs
